My quick thought on Mikey...
For the first time, it looked like he actually belonged in the NHL. He played like a NHLer, not some kid trying to make the team. Nice to see finally. |

Great to hear. We'll have injuries and will need competent players to step in. |

Its nice as it seems a lot of the farm team is going to be filled out with our draft picks vs a bunch of ahl plugs. Things are really going to start coming together and we are one of the only orgs that has their farm team playing the exact same way as the big club making transitions seemless. |

6 cuts made today, no one shocking
Clarke had a good prospect camp but we all knew he was going to juniors to get more experience |

Did they him at Center or wing? I know the prevailing thought is if he makes it in the NHL it will likely be as a winger. |

He played Center and his first faceoff was as clean as win as you can get. |

He should be happy with how he did. That's a prospect to keep an eye on in 2-3 years |

Fun little note: the Rangers are icing their A team against us tomorrow. |

*strength means nothing in hockey* - MartysBetter88
I know what you’re doing here and we never said that. You’re concern is height and weight. |

Not surprising since they’re home. We had our stronger squad at the Rock for the split games with the Bruins and sent a weaker squad against the Habs.
I find it more interesting that we are holding Jack out. No matchup with Kraapo unless he plays here Friday. |

I dont think anyone is sleeping on him at all he looks great just he didnt score and we are seeing some other guys for the first time so its not that he is being over looked more so then it is he needs to be praised every single time.
He didnt do much to change opinions so why not mention a couple who havent been mentioned ? Like Bratt, Gusev and blackwood? Hughes got brought up because he had 2 goals and likely could of gotten 4 points had some hit on his set ups.- Devilish4
Yea my bad I just re-watched the highlights and realized I got Jasper boqvist mixed up with jasper bratt. I hope I'm not the last person to make that mistake. |

lol OK. Usually a heavier hockey player = a stronger player. I'd like to imagine all these players are in great shape so the weight likely is more muscle than fat. My concern was strength. A 6'4 player will usually have a better odds than a 5'8 player in physical battles, which hockey has plenty of. This was never to say a player is better than another player strictly because of size, completely disregarding the players' skill. Obviously the more talented player is the better player. But this doesn't mean that size doesn't also have an impact in the game.
I remain flabbergasted at why this isn't understood. It's been a universal truth since the dawn of hockey, and most sports really. |

Patrick Kane and Johnny hockey have really struggled with their size so I see your point |

.. and most of the league's best players are small right? Small players generally have a higher chance of success than average or larger?
Do you think Kane or Gaudreau would be worse off if they had their skill in OV's body? They'd probably be just as good, if not better.. especially in Gaudreau's case where he wouldn't have issues with getting thrown off the puck. Sure he's effective as is.. would it hurt him to be bigger?? how?
I see your point, that there are a few great smaller players in the whole league. I don't see players being positively effected by being smaller or weaker. I see them positively effected by being more skilled. Skill and size/strength are independent of each other. Being bigger and stronger, those attributes on their own regardless of skill.. are more of a positive than a negative in a physical sport. Kane and Gaudreau aren't great because they're smaller, but because their skill is superior. This is a separate trait than size. Big players can suck. Small players can suck. That's not the point. The point is strength and size does more to benefit a player than the opposite, regardless of their skill level. |
