According to Powers , Hagel, Wedon, Nylander, kubalick are still in the running to make the team.

Sareela, Holm, sikura are headed to Rockford

Saw an earlier comment where Murphy belongs in Rockford.
I disagree strongly with this assessment.
He plays at an NHL level.

Question on Dach and the ‘9 game NHL tryout’.

Does it have to be at the start of the season? Or could they give him some time in Junior to get back on his feet, recall him for 9 games, say, in November, and make the decision to keep him or send him back then?

Thanks!

I believe it can be at any point. Doesn't have to be to start the year. There was a rookie last year who got a shot when an injury came up in like November or December, and they only played a few games and then got sent back to the juniors. Could be wrong though

Makes sense. Seems like three outta those four are gonna make the roster unless I'm forgetting some.

A little surprised by Holm since I believe he has to go through waivers. Not surprised by Sareela or Sikura going down. I'd expect them to play Top 6 minutes in Rockford and be looked at as options to be called up if they play well

Here’s what Powers put out on Twitter:

The Blackhawks have re-assigned Kris Versteeg, Tyler Sikura, Chad Krys and Jack Ramsey to the IceHogs.

Murphy will always suffer for being traded for Hjalmarsson.
- Elbows15

That is so true.

CHANGE IS TOUGH after you won three Cham pionships with a guy playing his heart out defensive like a warrior.

I was just going backwards looking at things, and of corse, the lucky lottery win of Kane and before the 3rd overall of Toews, you see that the formation of developing role and mid line players started with the 2005 draft and a cup in 2010.

So after watching this nice secondary group and the couple of studs do we start getting into regime change by 2025?

Saarela I thought showed a lot of positive and his opportunity in the future looks bright for him and Chicago.
I think he just needs a little more time to develop and build his confidence.

Holm is a surprise considering I thought he played well and IMO out performed dalstrom and koekkoek .

Boqvist will be interesting to see if makes the team as the 7th d or if they decide he would be better suited playing full time in Rockford.

I'm kinda surprised kurshaev isn't being given more of a look , he plays center correct? With his upside and ceiling being higher potentially than Kampf?

Not sure things are set in stone quite yet.

Pope put this out yesterday:

Colliton said the makeup of the "B" group today (incl. Boqvist, Sikura, Saarela) doesn't 100% foreshadow the cuts to come.

"There's still battles to be had. There'll be guys in that group who play in the next few games.”

I believe the names in () came from Ben not Colliton.

I’m with the “ Zach Smith will be better than you think” crowd (sorry Ogi)
- Assman22

Totally agree with you. Smith will be just fine and contribute more then most expect.

Saarela is almost 23 years old and has been on the cusp for like 3 years now.

Kurashev has been hurt, and he has spent one week playing professional hockey last year. I have no problem him starting the year in Rockford developing.

Here is where I read that info regarding Hagel but also in it was mentioned the players deemed to be sent to Rockford.

Either way it will be interesting once more players are sent down and we get more of a sense of who is truly being seriously considered.

I thought he played well in camp, he had a goal and 1 taken away , was willing to stand in front of the net. He showed more promise in camp IMO than Perlini.

Whatever the team saw in Nylander they are sticking with it. Right into the open wing spot with the franchise. Wonder how Toews and Kane feel about it?

Kane does enjoy having another skill guy that can drift it.... maybe this turns into Panarin 2.0.

Same combinations as yesterday
Nylander-Toews-Kane
DeBrincat-Strome-Shaw
Saad-Kampf-Kubalik
Smith-Carpenter-Caggiula
Perlini and Wedin also rotating in

Keith-Gustafsson
Maatta-Seabrook
Koekkoek-Murphy
de Haan-Dahlstrom

Yea. I don't think he got into any of the pre-season games so far. While everyone has been concerned with Dach I haven't heard if Philipp Kurashev is even practicing.

Well, the trade is the impetus, but I think the people who are down on the trade are comparing Murphy's best, which is sort of middling as an NHL defenseman, versus Hjalmarsson's best, which was very, very good.

Murphy's best is an NHL 4-5, so far, and Hammer was a 3 on a SC winner, and probably would have been a 2 on most NHL teams. And I'd argue that Hammer is still a better defenseman than Murphy.
