Ha besides de Haan with Murphy I had that pretty spot on from earlier today - Savetheembers33

Does the NHL waivers work somewhat like MLB, that if someone puts in a claim you can recall the waiver? - LAHawk
No, once they are "waived" and claimed the team that claims them gets them.
In MLB, that only would work during August for the Waiver Trade period after the TDL where you would try to pass players through for the purpose of being able to trade them. If a team put a claim on a player they could either release him to the team unconditionally, work out a trade, or pull the player back but once they'll been pulled back they can't pass them through once again. They got rid of this rule this year and only have one TDL now |

Haha just letting the pieces fall into place and doing the rest of the work. Dach being out and de Haan looking like he's gonna be back in time for the season kinda made putting it together easier |

Don't stress it. It won't be the same in two months from now or by the end of the year. I have no problem with Kampf as 3C to start the year. We all know that he's just a place warmer for when Dach is ready for it anyways |

Not stressing it, but I don’t like it. Kinda bummed by the Dach concussion situation. I don’t know if he’d have made the team anyway, but would have liked to see him giving it his best shot. |

curious to see what Saarela does if he gets sent down. He got all pissy about not getting called up this summer, which is why he got traded. - BINGO!

Definitely agree. A bottom 6 like this has the potential to tilt the ice in a consistent manner while also providing a strong forecheck once play goes the other way.
Saad - Sikura/Dach - Shaw
Smith/Caggiula - Kampf - Carpenter
Other extra forwards to consider: Highmore - AEL_Fox
Honestly would rather see Highmore before Carpenter. And Smith. Won't happen but I can't think of anything they bring that Highmore can't at a cheaper cost. |

Nope. They can either put them on their NHL roster or try to get them through waivers again. |

Yeah, I agree. I think he was going to make the roster unless he looked overmatched. It's a shame, but it might be the best for him. We'll see. I still expect him to be on this team at some point this year. |

He could be serviceable with Saad and Kubalik in that role. That is going to be one heavy line that should be good on the cycle and forecheck. Might be able to free up Dinky and Strome to go bumslaying against bottom 6 of other teams.
Not that I am crazy about Kampf at 3C and I like him. |

Hawks win !!!! Great job Tyler summing things up.
Last night was a great team effort of the past 3 games, and defensively outstanding performance.
Maatta and Seabrook looked like they played for years together.
Tyler in your opinion do you think Dach makes the team even though he missed a few preseason games he did play in the tournament recently and looked great.
With that in mind could Stan and JC have him penciled in in their minds and just being a bit cautious with his concussion protocol?
How about boqvist putting on a show, wow that kid has some great slick skills, the way he undressed their d and his shot ? - Taylorst1
Seabrook is definitely massively overpaid, but....if Maatta and Seabrook stick as the 5-6 pairing....there are precious few teams with anything close to as good a 3rd pairing. We have to put the salary aside when looking at the construction of this lineup. Yes. 7 million for a 3rd pairing D-man is excessive....but we have bargains in super-cheap 40 goal scorers (D-cat) an 2nd line centers (strome). Instead of salary, if we focus on the depth and flexibility of this line-up...I think we should be somewhat encouraged. Heck...I say HUGELY encouraged compared to what we iced the last two years!!! Kudos to Stan. A nice collection of some very interchangable parts that could be quite effective.

I told you all awhile ago that Kampf will be JC's go to 3rd line center and bumped up to top 6 when needed.
He'll be the guy JC thinks can win draws in the 3rd, or get shifts in OT because he thinks Kampf is good
When the truth is, if they waived him he wouldn't be on any other teams NHL roster
If this is another developmental year, keep Dach in Jr's as well as Boqvist and any other young player in Rockford
I think Dalstrom makes the team (and possibly Koekkoek if Dehaan isnt ready)...possibly going with 8 D
JC also thought Dahlstrom and Murphy were "shut down" defenders

You can look at the #1 pair of Keith/Gusto/Bovquist as a very cheap $6 mil. pair, like 5-6 defenseman pay rate. I agree, we have to look at the salary in total, not what one (or 2,3) players are overpayed. The only teams that do not have overpaid/salary cap problems are those that have not bee relevant in a while. Vegas has only been in the league 2 years and they already have cap problems.

Not an expert but I really liked what I saw from Nylander as far as puck possession in the o-zone. Nice pivots and uses his size to shield the puck. Obviously he has a nice shot and hands. He has been hanging around the net too.
Haven't seen him doing that much "floating". At least not anymore than a usual offensive minded top 6 forward.
Panarin did his fair share of that. Kane does. So did the older version of Sharp. Not every top 6 forward is going to be a two way beast like Toews, Hossa or the good version of Saad.
Question is can the Hawks be a serious contender with that type of offensive minded player when they already have Dcat and Kane in the top 6?
It will be a different brand of hockey than the cup winning teams that could absolutely smother other teams once they took a lead. - bhawks2241
I think they look at the broader picture. How many guys floating? How much are they scoring? Are they trending in the right direction on the defensive end? Is their play a net gain or net loss? How many other guys can compensate for their weaknesses? I am thinking they will give Nylander a chance to prove his strengths out weigh his weaknesses on a team level at the NHL level.

I would as well to be honest. If Smith and/or Carpenter weren’t picked up this summer, Highmore would be a shoo-in for me on the 4th line. |

Get well soon Dach. The forwards look pretty good, but would look a whole lot better with Dach as 3C.
My guess is that they would rather have Holm playing a regular shift in Rockford than being the 7th defender and sitting in the press box at the UC. I still look for Holm to make it a very hard decision. I think Koekkoek has a higher upside than Dahlstrom, but neither of them are too impressive right now.
I still think Stan has one more significant move before or early in the season.
Do you think Marleau would sign a $2.5 mil deal to play 3C on a cup contender? He is still out there. |

Well said. I also think this might be a similar situation as Strome. Sabres organization is pretty meh much like AZ. Nylander may come here and flourish with the right coaching staff, trainers, and veteran leadership. Strome was so relieved when he was traded.
The Hawks have one of the best, if not the best organizations in the NHL. |

It's the players examples too, when the best players work the hardest (Kane, keith, etc), others follow suit (i.e. Strome staying in Chi. to work out with his buddy ADB. Looks like Saad did too.
