I was mildly surprised that Pekar didn't get assigned to the Amerks camp. |

Yeah, when he was on with the Instigators, he mentioned he was eligible due to his USHL/foreign born status or some such legal technicality. I thought theyd give him a shot as well |

Keep his confidence high playing in a league that he can thrive in? Rochahchacha will be swamped will Sabre’s depth players, he wouldn’t get quality ice time?
I don’t know please don’t ban me. |

No offense but I disagree, trading a number two center and expecting a rookie to replace him is far from patient.
I think he's in over his head, his team as it stands is not constructed very well. Too many offensive defenseman along with a lot of RHD bottom pair guys. No number two center and a lot of bottom six LW's.
Buffalo is the place where prospects never develop properly because they get rushed into roles they aren't ready for. Rushing mittlestat was a major mistake and a sign of impatience to make his o'Reilly trade look less incompetent.
His next blunder will be rushing cozens because he couldn't trade ristolainen for a top six. |

Reeding this makes it seem like he is not very talented at the trading department.
I agree that his moves made it seem like there was more going on. He failed with Lehner, Kane and O’rielly...maybe he gets the meat sweats when big names get tossed around.
Side note Botts was on the ice for the Michigan goal (20 seconds in)

Well, I dated a couch cushion for 3 1/2 years....
I thought it was an upgrade.
I found out my best man hooked up with my ex-wife and asked him if he felt like playing 18...

He was yipless on the Nylander/Joker trade. And the Millsie trade was a savvy one. |

True, but we all know Risto is a different story. If he goes to the right situation with the right motivation, he could make JB look bad if the return is sub-par again.
The miller and joker trades offer little risk that's similar |

You're right about these being different classes of trades. After ROR I was reluctant to want Botts to make any trades. Joker/Millsie restored a bit of faith, but Risto is indeed a different weight class. |

trade deadline
offers made, botts did nothing
nhl draft
offers made, botts did nothing
start of free agency
offers made, botts did nothing
he listens, but has not offered risto to any teams in trade talks he initiated
nothing more, nothing less
but haters are gonna hate |

Man, it'd be fascinating to know what all those offers were. What does JB have in mind, in terms of return for Risto?

you can make this case for a few first rounders, but that is about it
they are extremely patient with borgen, asplund, olofsson
they were with guhle
and nylander
the tried reinhart his rookie year, in panic mode, sent him down as it wasn't going to work
regarding casey, again panic mode to push the team to the next level
the problem with casey, was more the bad coach then the player
if cozens sticks, it will be because he clearly earned it
was dahlin rushed?
I don't think so
either the prospect has it for the next level, or they do not
you will learn a lot more in an nhl locker room and nhl practices then you will ever learn staying in a piss poor canadian hockey league where a top 10 nhl pick will probably learn bad habits just to own 16 year olds
it's more the players drive or lack of drive that determines their outcome once they reach the nhl
they can keep putting the work in and bring it on every shift, or they can coast like so many former sabres did once they got paid |

I agree with some parts of this, but Skinner and Mojo are a pretty good top-6 lw pair, Nylander was certainly never rushed in his development (granted, injuries), we seem to be simmering a good amount of young players now rather than rushing them, and the book is still open on Cozens and Risto. I seriously doubt Cozens sticks with the club but if he does it will be as 2 or 3 wing and not 2c. And the potential of Dahlin and Joker right now to be studs on both offense and defense, and solidify a top-pair for years to come (?) precludes the need to get another Scandella or Mike Weber to "play defense"right now. We are still a bubble team. But yeah Mitts was rushed for sure.
Bold prediction: Tage is good for us and fills a rw hole, starting this year. |

tampa offered their young d man and a bad contract
the ducks offered conditional pick and a bad contract
the devils offered 2 seconds and a blah prospect
oilers offered conditional pick and blah prospect
jets offered 2 roster players with blah contracts and no upside picks or prospects at draft
botts has been more focused on subtraction then losing risto
expect a few 5th or 6th round picks coming our way in the weeks ahead for scrubs, but nothing more
the front office has been tight lipped since botts took over, but regarding risto, he blames the coaches and makeup over the teams last 5 years and has been trying to smooth things over and give risto a chance to succeed
