So:
If Cozens is fast and can take a beating keep him up all year, but assign middlephat to Rochester for seasoning? Only If his contract allows?

Interesting thought.

- Boss34

Yep, that's it

I'll copy this part in and bold what actually matters so you better understand what I was saying:

"I am not sold that Cozens is ready yet but if he proves that he can take the beatings and play at the speed of the NHL, I'd be on board for this entire group for the season.

Mitts has speed and hands but how often did he actually get to use them in a game? He had a very hard time last year and frankly I do not expect much more this year. Cozens should go down. I think all players should see their fair share of Jr's, college or the AHL but we need a 2C and I don't think that is Mitts yet. I don't think it's Cozens either however, if he shows better than Mitts did, plays with speed, can perform under pressure and handle the beatings he is going to take in that role, why not roll the dice?

Krueger says that Montour will miss the preseason and "possible he misses start of regular season" but expects him "pretty soon thereafter."

Short term injuries should never alter trade talks. Ever.

Trades should be for the betterment of both short and long term goals. Holding up a trade cause a guy is out a few weeks is poppycock.

what if there was no trade talks before, stay the course as well?

3C

or 2C

the chemistry he has with olofsson is really good

Skinner-Eichel-Cozens
Olofsson-Asplund-Reinhart
Vesey-Casey-Johansson
Sheary-E-Rod-Tage

that would be a much faster team then we have seen in a long long time

- homiedclown

Honestly. That would be the absolute best line-up they can put on the ice. However, i doubt Botts has the gonads to do that to a bunch of vets like Sobotka, Okposo, Larsson and Girgs. But the above line-up would be our best line-up based on our existing players.

No idea. Just speaking in generalities. If you're, for example, trying to trade a RD for, let's say a top 6F, and one of your RDs is out a couple weeks. That should never deter you from fulfilling a trade.

My opinion I guess. A team should have the proper depth to fill in until that player returns from injury.

I agree. That is probly your best lineup with the current Sabres forwards. Which is not great.

Okposo and the twins play a solid and important defensive role. If you take that away, I believe your goals against rises.

How about an all swede third line? Olofsson Asplund Johansson

Lines would be:

Skinner Eichel Vesey
Sheary Mittelstadt Reinhart
Olofsson Asplund Johansson
Thompson Rodrigues Okposo

I guess I should have given Larsson a spot. There's some fun combinations to play with, but having to slot okposo and the twins into every lineup makes this boring.

So many coaches on this board. Can't you all find a more appropriate place to post opinions about the Sabres?

Rooster has been very good competitively and I think he should at least get a real shot. Can they still assign Mitts to Rochester without waivers? Something tells me no due to something with his contract. He serves zero purpose as a benched player but I feel like he needs a bit more seasoning and not 100% sure Buffalo is the place for it. Just my thoughts on him...felt he didn't belong last year either.
- hammatoe

Casey is 2 seasons or 77 games away from requiring waivers. There's nothing stopping them from sending him down.

I'm thinking grass roots. Do the Sabres have a suggestion box at the arena?

The sabres suck, we're doomed. No one wants our players, unless the deal favors them.

We will always be tanking, McDavid wouldn't make them a winner. Poor us, life sucks... Did I do that right?

Not liking that statement on Montour's injury. They said he's out for the preseason and will give us an update after preseason is over, which to me sounds like it'll be a lot longer. Why no firm timeframe now ?
- kritter65

No offense, but does it really matter?

It's not like any of us has anything to do with it. If he's out, he's out.
