Worst comes to worse Johanson can fit in a 2nd line center role, it took a little time after injuries (concussions) but once he was comfortable he played very well and was putting points up and making plays even with a devils team that didn't have that much firepower even when 1/2 the team weren't out with injuries. He also played well in Boston.

Very versatile and can play any position, he may not be flashy or put mcdavid numbers but he is very capable

Besides gerbe you can always watch the devils.....that Russian gusev has looked great so far and was traded for peanuts the way it's looking

Idk about the last part, but he has looked as advertised and the smaller ice doesn't seem to have hampered his creativity which was a question mark coming from the khl

Panarin did score against the devils last night, but gusev came back and scored and hit a post and had some slick passes


But anyways Johanson will be better than you think and he is reliable in all zones. Not the best at faceoffs but he can kill penalties and makes smart plays. He isn't one of those players that your wondering what you will get from him that day, you know you will get a good performance. The issue with him has been his injuries the last few seasons. But when healthy he plays very well

You can work out 8 hours a day. You can run marathons. You can flip tires. You are still not in hockey shape until you play hockey every day. It’s different. If you played, you should know what I am talking about. These guys had 3 days of camp before those games. It takes time to get your legs, hands and hockey sense back to where it should be. Hell they were probably all still sore from camp on Monday/Tuesday. Let’s not flush the whole season down the toilet based on the first two pre season games.

Asking for a friend here,but...... what does being in shape and skating fast have to do with one another. I can run 5 miles everyday for 2 years and guess what it won’t help me skate faster.
