Laine is 21, and will likely score 400 goals in the NHL. I have serious doubts Peg would want Nylander in return. - aminnes
Leafs top 6 centres are both goal scorers as good or better than laine. Leafs need play making wingers to play with them. He's not replacing Marner and I'd rather have a guy playing with matthews who can score 25 and put up 35 to 40 assists than a guy who's gonna score 35 and 25 stealing shots from Matthews. im sure winnipeg doesn't do the trade but I don't think the leafs would want to either. plus laines definitely asking for more than nylander. |

I heard something slam after the marner signing... not sure if it was him leaving or the jets window closing |

If the leafs ever made the finals the best part would be the panic from all the other canadian fan bases. It'd be magical. |

I don't think LA has good enough linemates for him. - Zezel
Ayyy-O!
But for realsies, ur probably right. For the past 2 seasons I’ve been calling for LA to blow it up and rebuild. They could probably get really good prospects or high picks for some of their players. This years draft is apparently the draft of the decade, maybe they could get Lafreniere of Byfeild. |

What's weird though is that I can't really think of a good trade for Laine. At least not one that makes sense for the need of the player and the salary he wants with the cap space teams have available.
Would Columbus want to move Werenski for him? They have greater need of a goalie than a scoring winger, but I suppose they could make good use of him.
But the other guys - Tampa, Calgary, Colorado - you'd rather have your own unsigned RFA than Laine. Colorado might still have space available, but they have subsequent years to worry about and their "internal cap". Some of the others with space or useful young capital are just not at the point where it makes sense to acquire a Laine . . . |

If Malkin wants out of Pittsburgh, then maybe him?
Maybe trade him to FLA to play with Barkov?

Anything is possible, I guess. Florida has no cap room, so they'd have to trade Ekblad to make $8m in space.
If I'm Winnipeg, I don't know if I want a 33 year old guy making 9.5m, but it would be that centre that Laine needs to play with . . . oh. Right. |

As a Leafs fan in Winnipeg I hear that poop all the time. The obsession other Canadian fanbases have with the Leafs is mind boggling.

I've never seen a team's window open out of nowhere like that, then close faster. Open and shut in about the time it takes to clear a fart out of a car in the dead of winter. |

Malkin. Does. Not. Want. Out. Of. Pittsburgh.
It's been said every year for almost a decade but they literally just traded Kessel a few months ago because Malkin thought he became too complacent in his stats.
Malkin wants to stay in Pittsburgh and he wants to win. |

"Malkin wants his own team" must be the most overused, inaccurate and yet undying rumor of all-time. |

people criticizing Laine for saying he wants to be on a line with the best C on the team.
same people not criticizing Matthews for prefering to not have Kapanen on his wing.
I understand Laine and I understand Matthews - Laine can get 100points with Wheeler and Scheifele, and Kapanen just doesn't complete Matthews' play very well. (although in playoffs, Kapanen should be on Matthews' line).
Top player will want to have a say in who they play with.
(you guys really think McDavid doesn't have a say on who's on his line? or Crosby?) |

Uhm, you seriously don’t see the differences here?
One literally said “I would be way better if I wasn’t playing with my linemates to a reporter in a contract dispute.
The other may or may not of said he’d prefer not to play witg Kapanen in a possible leaked conversation between coaches. |
