My rule of thumb is to avoid going outside naked, so it's not a problem I'll likely ever run into.

True, but you never know what the future will bring. My base instinct is that I feel most secure when there's absolutely no chance that I'll end up out in the cold somehow.

I dressed up as Superman one year, and I've received numerous threats from Krypton ever since. Apparently, it didn't get destroyed in that cataclysm... Who knew.

I'm hoping the leafs re-sign Muzzin. You could probably get him for a few years at 4 or 5 million and he would be excellent while the window is open, I think.

Can't afford Barrie. I don't think you can re-do you're entire defense corps. in one off-season with kids.

I disagree. You sign Barrie and let Muzzin go. Muzzin is too old, slow and lacks skill to keep long-term. Leafs do have the cap to keep Barrie. Friedman is reporting cap will be 84-85 million next year. They'll have 16 million+ available.

Muzzin at 5 million is a much bigger waste of cap than Barrie at 8. Muzzin does not fit the Dubas mold for signing long-term at big $$$

And another big option that can come up is I think Nylander's value skyrockets this year. You can always move him if you felt you needed to.

This times one bajillion.

He'll want a 6-year deal, and the GM who gives it to him will be fired in year 3 as a direct result.

The one thing that may make an extension palatable is if the Leafs go deep and Muzzin agrees to a buyoutable contract with a moderate discount...

But other than that, no, we don't need a 30+ former #3 d-man for the next half decade

Not on a long term deal, but I don't see the harm in giving Muzzin a 2 yr extension

It's a stretch but if they could get him signed to a contract like the one Gardiner took this year, I'd be all over that. Ideally just a 3 year but 4 would be fine in my books.

No idea what his cap hit would look like though. He's kind of consistent in putting up 0.5PPG and not getting PP1 time. For me he's a player you dont notice and for a Dman, that's a compliment.

Kasperi Kapanen on William Nylander: "I think he's going to go down as one of the best Swedish players to ever play."

I wonder if he actually believes that or just pumping his buddies tires so he’ll have a good year.
