RFA Tony DeAngelo has agreed to terms with #NYR on a one-year deal worth $925,000 - jimbro83
Nice!!
That was the reported offer from before camp opened, right? Sounds like Tony realized that the only card he holds is playing hard and well and reaping the benefits next year.

That might equal 1 Esa Tikkanen - climbdenali12
He might be the most beloved Ranger of all time that played in as few games with us as he did. Fun fact: he had three stints with us and played less than 150 games combined, only one full season did he wear our uniform. I would have never guessed that. |

One of my favorite Ranger D of all time. Couldn't keep him off the ice for any reason... - mames11
Same here. Absolutely love and respect G!
Good for him. Now to go camp out in front of his new place to get some items signed! |

Tony D accomplished absolutely nothing not coming to camp on time
but that's in the past now, hopefully he's ready to play next game |

I really hope he has an outstanding year. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for saying this, but he has the potential to be better than Trouba eventually. It's a matter of whether or not he matures and puts the work in to make it happen. Trouba is somebody who can hit 50 if everything goes right, I think ADA could become an annual 50 pt guy, but he's got to do everything that's needed of him to achieve that level. |

who gets the top PP spot on the right side this year is going to be a determining factor in who gets the most points
all three of Trouba, Fox, Tony D can do it
They should make Trouba the top PK man and use the two young guys on the PP, IMO |

At morning skate for tonight’s preseason game vs. NJD, PP1 is Buchnevich; Namestnikov; Chytil, Strome and Reunanen. |

I'm sure someone will be traded, crazy to think Trouba might be the 5th or 6th best defensmen on the team by the time Miller and Nils get going.
Trouba should be the PK ace. We 100% can limit his usage and have him be more effective over his prime because we will have a surplus of offensive options. If Fox or ADA get hurt, we could even have Kravs run the point on PP similar to how the Caps use Ovy. |

if Tony D is a primary guy on the PP this year and plays most of the games, I can see a 10 goal 40 assist year from him, absolutely |

The New York Rangers announced today that the team has reduced its Training Camp roster by four players, as Brandon Crawley, Jake Elmer, Vincent LoVerde, and Darren Raddysh have all been assigned to Training Camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). - airjan23
What!?! But with Crawley's spot on pass in the defensive zone last game? What? |

I get the logic but you don't bring in Trouba for that kind of money and play him sheltered. He will be thrown out as the #1 in all situations for a while. |

This season for sure he will. For me it's not a sheltering issue, it's a usage issue. Having so many options can afford you to not play him on the power play and sort of keep him better rested. I would still see him playing at worst top 4 minutes. |

I'm fairly sure you are right. But, this is the kind of thinking that should be toyed with as a new way of operating in the league today. Just because he's the #1, doesn't mean he has to play top minutes in every situation.
I think this is one of the best takes to come out of this board since poopting in a mailbag in an "emergency!" |

In isn't as bad as you would think in terms of dead money. You have Names and Strome coming off, our dead cap only goes up by 2 million since G's dead cap goes down. As long as the cap doesn't go up minimally like this past offseason, I think we should be fine.
Even if we did have to trade ADA because he scored 50 points and commanded a big contract, the return would be much higher than it would have been now. |
