Pushing the back of helmet up so the front covered the eyes was classic.

Never see anyone do that anymore. Such a shame.

I don't understand how anyone could be a Mets fan. I mean the Islanders are very far from perfect but they make them look like the pinnacle of perfection compared to some of the stuff the Mets have pulled

I used to watch every game, can't do it anymore. I quit the Mets cold turkey in like 2008.

I went to see Jim Brewer at The Paramount last Friday. Did a very funny piece about his rough tenure as a Mets fan.

It has to be tough for Mets fans. If a player wants to come to NY to play ball, they go to where the history and success has been...in the Bronx with the Yankees. Mets seem to almost always get the leftovers the Yanks do not want.

The crazy thing about the Mets is, the past quarter century is better than people want to remember, better than a lot of other teams. It's just the way the team gets your hopes up on to rip your heart out in the most Mets way possible. The whole Endy Chavez catch in the NLCS only to lose that game anyway is probably the moment that best signifies the Mets.

That kinda has to do with how cheap the Wilpons are.

3-1 curveball to Jose Valentin was the killer in that inning even before the Yadi Molina home run of Heilman.

The Wilpons are basically that guy that convinced the NHL to let him buy the Islanders with no money, only with slightly more capital to keep the charade going a bit longer.

I get both sides of the argument, but I don't think it should always be about statistics. There are certain players every once in awhile that transcend that for a team, and I think G was one of them.

Its like if Gravy didn't have the offensive numbers he had I would retire his number cause he was another one. When I think of that 94 team thats who I think of right next to Mess.

- mdw7413

Big NO for both Girardi and Zucc. Great players ---- yes, but NOT retire your number great. Having said that --- I would be upset if they issued their numbers to current marginal players.
Hopefully, next time number 5 is given out, it goes to someone like a K'Andre Miller.

Basically agree. No need to retire or even monitor the number. Just put up a banner somewhere in there recognizing how much he meant.

He's such a great player, I'm OK with bubble wrapping him. I don't think he needs preseason enough to risk aggravating something. Get him nice and healthy for opening night.

I really hope he has an outstanding year. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for saying this, but he has the potential to be better than Trouba eventually. It's a matter of whether or not he matures and puts the work in to make it happen. Trouba is somebody who can hit 50 if everything goes right, I think ADA could become an annual 50 pt guy, but he's got to do everything that's needed of him to achieve that level.
- 2sticks1puck

No you arent, you are probably spot on. ADA's problem is between his ears, he is an a$$hole.

It's only one game and they still took him 2 rounds earlier then they had to, but what if Allaire was right in wanting Olof?
