You should go, you already paid for it.

That’s true man. But after watching guys I respect turn into shells of themselves and barley be kept alive into their 80’s so their families can remember them as bedridden guy, I’m out.
I’m me, everyday, till I’m not and then it’s done.

Back to hockey- Matt Read is making this team

Trying to understand the Liljegren disdain.
- mjones242

Good for Read. He's played well.

Liljegren has just not been overly confident, I don't find. He's had the puck skip by him, and not been as solid on the puck. His skating isn't as good as I'd thought it would be either.

Do you see something more?

Guaranteed babs is going to say he loved the gaudet Agustino aberg line tonight. They work hard. Don’t have the great goal scorers but they don’t give up. They also don’t score much though.

I swear he likes those guys more then the skilled guys.

Read chipping in some and that is good I think he has done well and have a feeling that experience could push him onto the team for sure!

And as for Lilly I agree, he has seemed hesitant, behind the play a lot, losing battles and just seems not ready at all. Sandin has been completely opposite, strong on the puck, making plays, confident, looking ready to push to be part of the team.

I see something completely different... Mikheyev's skating reminds me of Nikolai Kulemin, very wide stance, but very stable/strong on his feet... deceptively quick
- BorjeFan4Ever

I'll look more closely. After I used that I was sort of thinking 'That's not it' . . Antropov looked all knees and clunky - like if you'd tried to teach a robot to skate, but didn't oil its knees. But there's something about Mikheyev that I don't find smooth or elegant, I guess. I'm not talking speed or effectiveness - just the natural appearance of it.

Read makes the team. Spezza doesn’t.

Right? Bottom 6 needs to be tenacious. Respect to Spezzas career, but he’s never been that.

I haven't seen anything to make me think he doesn't deserve more of a look especially considering how thin the Leafs are on the right side. He hasn't been spectacular but I think he hasn't looked lost.

Per Sandin, it seems like a lot of people here are dazzled. Meanwhile, I just saw Mittelstadt dance around him like he was a pylon.

Small sample set for both but one has the halo and the other the horns...

I'm not one to be negative - he does some things well. He seems creative and smart with the puck on offense. On defense, he's very soft with the puck, indecisive, and honestly, a huge risk. The offensive contributions I've seen him bring in this very small sample size of 2 preseason games are not worthy compared to the defensive gaffes I've seen him make.

In the first game there were about 3 plays he made where I thought to myself, "If I wanted to make a video of what the hockey cliche "hard on the puck" meant, I'd use those plays demonstrate what it isn't".
