How is it known he gave himself up? Besides celebrating and running the wrong way to celebrate? Serious question. I was nervous about the potential outcome. - Lilroot9
It was ridiculous. I thought it was a safety, and I still do, but I'll take it. |

I was blowing him up all morning dude, it's my fault. He hit and quit me and I just can't let it go. It was at 1st and 1st on the 1st day of the 1st month of the 1st year of the new millennium and I had just finished my 1st beer. |

I'm not sure it didn't take him all 12 seconds on the clock to go out of bounds, though. So it may be moot anyway. |

I feel like if I were to find myself in a room where everyone wanted to punch me in the face, I'd try to be in that room as little as possible, if at all. |

It's silly. There was no one from the other team anywhere near him. You shouldn't be allowed to "give yourself up" on that kind of play. Just get up and kneel, or something. A kneel should be the only acceptable "give yourself up" play in the NFL. Period. |

Realistically, worst case scenario, it's a safety and a punt and they still win.
But it was pretty clear he gave himself up
Either way, they win |

The funny thing is, the site admins knocked 3 days off my ban and I'll be back tomorrow instead of Thursday. I guess messaging the man works. |

They've been calling it that way for years. It's a common sense ruling. |

Yeah. The NFL owes the Bills for that Patriots game when the receiver gave himself up when he was trying to roll out of bounds to stop the clock.
Making slides and knees the only way to do it makes too much sense. |

I get it, but you should still have to get up and make the kneel if there's no opposing players near you.

Forgot about a slide, but that's obvious. At the end of the game, I guess I understand, it's like a walk-off home run, but each team had a time out still and there were 12 seconds on the clock. |

Which the Bengals wouldn't have been able to use if he just lays there and let the clock run out.

Right, but he got up and ran out of the endzone, that's a safety lol, it's a ridiculous rule. |

I have no idea what the rule is, and googling it on my phone came up empty, but the CBS rule guy completely dismissed the idea that it was a safety. |
