It's very difficult to see how Morin is going to get any ice time this season unless the team feels he is better than Haag and some injuries happen.

Honestly, I'm still a bit shocked that the one year you never gave him an opportunity. I agree that you can't put young players in a position to fail, but there really wasn't anyone blocking him from getting a decent look at that time. As desperate for defense as teams are, even if you thought eventually he would still lose the numbers game, he probably would have had some trade value.

If the Flyers end up losing him, might be the best thing for Morin to be with another team. He probably could still try to carve himself out a decent career by being a cheap third pair guy. I just don't see him ever getting a real opportunity now with the Flyers and it doesn't really make sense for you to use a roster spot on someone who probably doesn't figure much in your plans. It certainly doesn't help him being better by being the press box every night.

He’s a bust. He doesn’t move the puck well enough. That’s not getting better

I agree. But injuries do happen and he has always been better then Haag.

How the team feels has been where the problems have occurred.

How has he always been better than Hagg? He's played like 10 NHL games.

Which means he sits in the press box and gets no experience or we waive him and he almost certainly gets grabbed up and we lose him for nothing, right? I wonder if they end up trading him.

When he has the puck in the D zone it looks like a guy playing hot potato. I don't think he will ever be an NHL regular. Pay attention to our controlled D zone exits when he has the puck, easily one of the, if not the, worst Dman on the team in that aspect of the game.

Whatever his value is, Hagg has more than Morin. I like Hagg fine as a 6/7, but Morin has next to no value. Morin only has value to the team as an extra dman. Hagg could bring, at the least, a mid-round pick or possible bottom-6 forward.

Don't know. I last saw him skate on Wed but he may have been out before I got there or on the other rink the subsequent days. Didn't see him around but doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't there. Could also have done some off-ice work.

curious, if they were keeping him off the ice, it would make me think it could be a concussion.

You're right they do but right now he is 8th at best on the depth chart.

Fletcher mentioned last week surgery isn't in the picture yet or something along those lines so doesn't seem to be concussion

That play is on Giroux not Haag.

that's gold. But Morin is horrible getting the puck up to the offense in the Dzone, never said Hagg was good.

Didn’t like the pick when we made it. We needed to rebuild the defense badly, I understand that, but I was hoping for Domi or Wennberg. Morrissey and Pulock were there if I remember, but hindsight is 20/20. Morin appeared to be a good choice at the time.

Who I really wanted was Nichushkin, but he was taken one pick prior, and turned out to be a massive bust anyway.

I'm with you on this. Hagg could bring back some assets in a trade. I suppose these last few games are to see if the coaching staff prefers Morin to Hagg or Hagg to Morin for the 7th spot. Also curious that Friedman is still there and no one is mentioning him as a 1st call-up in case something really bad happens. I don't think Braun is going anywhere - he looked comfortable back there in the few games that I've seen - covered for Ghost a few times.

Braun's roster spot was never in question regardless of how he played in the pre-season.

Currently that is true, however a few months ago people were saying that they could trade him at the TDL in case you have forgotten.

So Pitlick could be ready to go for season opener? Could he still get a precession game in?

This would mean we are out of contention and multiple young players would have to outplay him, specifically Hagg and Morin, highly doubtful.

Maybe a shoulder/arm injury? But who knows with him.

Wasn't this an offseason injury? How did he get a concussion on the golf course or at the beach?
