cozens has been one of the 6 best guys up front in preseason, let alone top 9

he deserves to stick around for 9 games

- homiedclown

he had a great game followed by a game where he was invisible...he needs to add strength, he needs to grow into his body, he needs more confidence, needs to develop more consistency and he needs a much more stable team to start his career with...

imo

you have eichel, skinner and reinhart in their prime and the best defenseman your franchise has ever had

YOU F@CKING DRESS THE BEST 18 PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT

- homiedclown

Cozens, Asplund and Thompson are not going to solve this problem next year, especially if the plan is to let Vesey and Sheary walk. There's 30 goals out the door. Next year is a mirage.

Asplund should be on this team NOW. His projection tops out at 3C. Playing him at 4C is not going to destroy him. At least give me Asplund instead of Sobotka. It's so very little to ask for.

I cant wait til the puck drops at the home opener with girgs-Larry-okposo out there against the devils first line. How exciting

why sacrifice this season so we can have another Brady Austin and Nathan Lieuwen to look forward to?

send them down, if a team claims them, so be it

- homiedclown

I'm more worried about the young players having their development stunted than the Austin's and lieuwens of the hockey world

and girgens, larsson, tage, casey, okposo and sobotka were invisible 90% of the time they played last season
sheary probably 50% of the time

etc
etc
etc

I agree. Talking about Cozens being the best player on the ice in preseason games doesn't impress me. In all reality, how hard are vets going in the preseason? If youre one of the defensemen in the league that knows hes going to play 25 minutes a night for the next 7 months, how worried are you about an 18 year old in the 3rd week in September?

if girgens, larsson, okposo and sobotka are on the roster, this team WILL NOT be playing meaningful games at the end of the regular season

is cozens going to learn more at practice with jack, skinner etc at an nhl level, or giving a 16 and 17 year old kid a beat down in a back woods canadian town?

Is there any link or report about what the lines will look like opening night?
I know we all hate the scrubs and want the rookies to play, has there been any actual indication that sobotka, Larsson, grigs et all will actually be in the lineup?
There is a very real chance those three don't make the opening night lineup and are pushed out by kids.
I will reserve hate for the management team until I see who is actually playing.

they did tank for reinahrt, eichel, dahlin, casey and cozens

what is the purpose in tanking if you are not going to dress the 18 best players when you have 7 more years of eichel left under contract?

we are in the middle third of the eichel tenure, and nothing has changed, other then ror getting a cup

Isn't it a problem for vets to take their feet off the gas because there's no repercussions for being invisible or visibly sucking?

we don't even know what kind of coach kreuger will be at this time...we don't know if his systems will take hold...we don't know how the vets will fit in and where...

a lot of unknowns for an 18 yr. old to be thrown into

why are you putting smith in?
why are you rushing cozens?
and why put Asplund in a fourth-line role and Borgen in a bottom-pair/reserve role when they can play big top-line and top-pairing minutes in Rochester?

- Michael Pachla

If hes earned a spot why is it considered rushing?
If he pulled a mittlestadt then I completely agree, but I think hes at least earned a look for the first 9 games.

I agree and that's what im saying if he looked lost like Casey did last year send him down, Id like to see him get some real NHL action to kinda know what to prepare for next year.

Here is my take, I think the Defense is much better today then it was all last year.. Last year we gave up 268 goals, that is 3.27 goals per game. I think we can get that down to say 2.95 GA (240 goals against this year). I would think you could win an extra 5-7 games. I also think that both the additions of MOJO and Vessey will get you an extra 30-40 goals of secondary scoring.

I am not saying that we will make the playoffs but we should be fighting for the 8th spot all year.

I know the track record hasn't been great but I tend to defer to the opinion of coaches, that have been around the pro game for most of their adult lives to know what they are watching. An 18 year old, razzle and dazzling in practice as opposed to a vet with 8-10 years on his legs conserving energy. I have no problem with Sobotka being sent away. But what does a guy like Larsson, who I tend to like more than most, have to gain by killing himself in September? He knows what he can do, the coaches know what he can do, and the management knows what he can do. All he needs to show them is that hes in shape and hasn't drastically lost foot speed. Other than that, hes a professional hockey player. Everyone knows he can play in this league. Noone knows that about the 18 year old yet
