Our team NEXT year is exciting. We got a small taste of that this pre-season.
JBotts is being smart here. All of the above would benefit from a highly productive season in the AHL and a deep playoff run. We will manage the bottom 6 and almost all are gone this summer anyway. I’m sure he will find a way to deal with Okposo if he is not serviceable after this season

I'm more worried about the young players having their development stunted than the Austin's and lieuwens of the hockey world
- Michael Pachla

I agree. We've been forced to rush players due to lack of depth. We have depth and good young players. Smart move is to groom the young players. Super frustrating, but the smart move none the less

so send casey to rochester, and give cozens 9 games

don't reward casey by giving him top 6 minutes when he clearly is lost in year 2

Have an 18 year old, built like a teenager, whos never played the every-other-night for 6 months grind of the NHL, play 9 minutes a night, against 25-30 year old MEN defenseman, with 8 years of professional training, eating, living.

Five good shifts in one game don't always tell the whole story.

Remember that white receiver the Bills had on camp the other year that everyone was so damn mad that they cut? I haven't seen him on Sportscenter lately

We screwed him by forcing him into a 2C role when he was not ready. We will do the same with Cozens, Asplund. Casey should be 3C this year with 15min per game average.

Just curious about the rhetoric of rushing players. Who other than Mitts has been rushed in your opinions? Secondly, if you don't want players rushed, why do you think they should bring up guys that have one year of pro experience playing in the AHL.

If we don't intelligently assemble an NHL team with 4 solid NHL ready lines, we will be pissing away Eichels years, 6,7,8 too

Botterill added 2 forwards this summer, and Tim Murray added 1 (Olofsson)

Botterill couldn't possibly have done more. *wanking motion*

however, yet again a competent 2/3 C was not added to make this possible

True….but rushing/stunting the growth of Cozens wont help that. Two mistakes are not better than one

Eklund says Sabres interested in D Justin Falk. I say why not?!? Get all the D men and then control the market!

"We're pleased with this group that's out there right now. We've kept such a big roster because of how everyone's performed in training camp. We'd be comfortable with any mix of these 12 forwards starting for us." - Sabres coach Ralph Krueger.
"It'll all come down to the kind of synergies we're looking for in the lines and the balance that we need between grit and skill, some power play and some penalty kill. All of that is going to play out in the end." - Krueger on the final roster makeup

These statements are why we should expect to see Girgs and Larsson in the lineup. No other skaters in the league had a higher percentage of Dzone starts than these two did. The closest forwards (I only included guys with at least 50 games played) were Beagle, Cullen, Dubinsky, Kruger, Faksa, Lindholm, Riley Nash and Bonino. All of these guys had a worse Corsi and Fenwick, except Nash who was about the same with a 70% Dzone start compared to about 85% for our guys.

Hopefully with better puck control with the additions of Vesey, Johansson and the improved D, these two won't need to be on the ice for 14 minutes a night, however they do serve a role that I'm not sure any of the young guys are ready for.

he had a great game followed by a game where he was invisible...he needs to add strength, he needs to grow into his body, he needs more confidence, needs to develop more consistency and he needs a much more stable team to start his career with...

imo

- Michael Pachla

They played him all of 8 minutes in the 2nd game - it's a bit hard to have a presence when you're laying less than 3 minutes a period.
