I dont think they were ever going to let him make the team, despite the proclamations about roster competition. If he plays 16 minutes and looks good, it makes it harder for them to sell it

Yep - despite being one of our best forwards in camp, botts is very conservative with his young players (except for Mitts, for whatever reason, and how did that turn out) and this is prob a reason he was a reserve in practice yesterday. I don't even think he'll be given any games in the regular season. He probably plays tomorrow then is sent back to juniors on Thursday.

I don't disagree with this. However, the "hang on to him crowd" assumes that he is better than replacement. I am fine pocketing his salary and letting Joker play in his place. Or sweeten the pot the get the top 6 winger you need.
