Risto does not need to be traded based on a hockey board's disgust.
Over/Under 91 points.
Eichel over/under 94 points. - TC4145
ABSOUTELY CORRECT!
The Sabres however need to trade him to help where they absolutley need it the most.
Primary scoring from The Top 6, as the 2018-19 team was short about 50 goals short of the average GF scored by the 6,7,8 seeds in the East.
That was with Skinners banner goal scoring season, can he stay close to the 40 again?
Vesey is a wash with Pommer's 16
Johansson at 17 helps a bit.
Internal growth should also be expected to help a bit.
They likely remain 20 - 30sh goals short.
Risto is redundant to Montour, Miller and likely Jokiharju.
Borgen can replace Risto's minutes until Montour is back.
Dumb, dumb, dumb not to trade him for Top 6 help.
In fact, add to it with Sheary, Tage, picks to get a guy who is realistically a threat to pot 30 |

Patrick Laine will be here soon
Let’s get ready for the money line - gerbe75pts
This is offensive, I have a job I don't stand in a money line! What kind of person would want free money just for standing in line, they should ignore their natural feelings and put capitalism first...
bet yo

I don't disagree with this. However, the "hang on to him crowd" assumes that he is better than replacement. I am fine pocketing his salary and letting Joker play in his place. Or sweeten the pot the get the top 6 winger you need. - Slump Buster

And that depends on replacement - who that player is goes a long way to getting what the Sabres need.
I ask, is that replacement on this roster? And, if Ristop is as bad as his analytics make him out to be, who wants him? Tough trade, unless the other side is trading out of desperation?????
I cannot imagine the machinations that have happened and what will need to be done going forward in order to make a trade.
What is the hockey trade that CAN get done? |

So is the Faulk trade a fair comparable for Risto? |

I certainly don't know what's available, and which team believes they need to upgrade their RhD.
Most suspect Edmonton, Winnepeg, Anahiem and maybe others.
I took a poopload of heat on this board early in July when I suggested that the return for Risto appeared to be low compared to what had been thought, that of a Top 6 player. But now, based on The Clowns inside info we find that indeed the offers have been rather dismal.
I still believe he needs to be part of a package to get said Top 6 player, it is in the best interests of the Team to do so. Package what we need to get there, we have a poop-ton of LW's, a couple of prospects, and some draft choices that I think would drive some interest. |

Well, we now know he isn't getting a Top 6 player without some "+"'s thrown in.
I think the return was a bit weak for Risto...somewhere in the middle..
Like McDavid and Klefbom sounds fair! |

Let's face it, Okposo is here and gets the 4th line duties so it is really pick 2.
Mine would be Lazar and Asplund |

I was gonna say, if you dont pick him for the 4th line, you're picking for the 3rd by default, so you better pick him for the 4th |

I would think you could look at the Faulk trade and understand Risto could get something like that. When I reviewed last year's draft I liked Dominik Bokk a lot. Carolina got a great prospect.
Gotta think Anaheim could be a front runner for Risto now. Obviously Winnipeg but their hands are kinda full at the moment. |

and girgens, larsson, tage, casey, okposo and sobotka were invisible 90% of the time they played last season
sheary probably 50% of the time
etc
etc
etc
what is the definition of insanity?
trotting the same scrubs out year in and year out and expecting different results - homiedclown
But “different” doesn’t equal “better” either
Unfortunately, we seem to be stuck with Okposo for the time being
And while many (including yourself i believe) think that kids can come up & just fill the heavy
Defensive role that Larsson & Girgs were actually GOOD at... that may not be the case
And the coaches & management who see them day in & day out probably have a better grasp of who would be better in those roles than us
And while they might not be the answer,
neither is putting kids into roles they aren’t ready for

I agree on Asplund and Lazar. I just think that they already have their mind made up on Asplund and sending him to Rochester.

Are we calling Mitts 3C at this point and Mojo 2C?
If so, just keep him away from Mojo. We need 50+ points from him |

I don't know what the hell they're gonna do.
I mentioned over the summer that Johansson could play 2C and got blasted for the idea. The nice thing about guys like him is he could play any of the forward positions. Mitts needs to have a strong performance in his next game. |

Faulk was a pending UFA that was going to need a good sized new deal. Ristolainen has this year plus two more left on his deal.
He should garner a better return. |

I got blasted last week for suggesting Johansson play 2C. So not much has changed.
Problem arises when his stat page lists him as a winger. |

Somewhat, Risto has 3 years left at 5.4 and younger.
Faulk needed a big extension and got one from St. Lou, so that had to be taken into account.
Risto has huge value in a market where you basically have Winnipeg and a couple others as suitors - and you can count the Blues out now. |
