But as a 13th forward, he would only be pressed into service if there was an injury to a forward and there was no time to recall a player before the next game.
I still hope he doesn't make the roster, but I don't think the 13F spot will make him play in a ton of games. - jmatchett383
Your 13th forward shouldn't be a guy you really don't want to play. Not with the depth in the Flyers farm system. |

What is the lineup with no Patrick but with Pitlick? with extras. - ClaudeFather
If both Farabee and Stewart make the team?

So which players from the Phantoms would you like playing only sparingly this season? Andreoff and Gabriel make the most sense as they're not really prospects at this point and have some NHL experience. |

All up in arms over stewie
If he does make it and any long term injury someone else will get the call. It wont be stewie
He is a game here and there type

I sure hope we're not stuck with another GM and coach who don't know what they're doing. - MJL
You would think the team would realize that they should just hire various members of Flyersbuzz. God. |
|
|
|
Correct. As has been stated before. There's no reason for a player like Aube-Kubel to stay with the team as the 13th forward if he's not going to play regularly. Or any other young player. They also have a better idea if Pitlick is going to be ready. Best to get certain players to the AHL camp so they can start practicing. Stewart as the 13th forward, I can deal with. As a regular in the lineup, no thanks. - MJL
With the depth the Flyers have in the system there is no way for Stewart to get anything higher than the 13F spot; they have too many young guys coming up. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be in the opening lineup, since Pitlick is questionable with injury, if he is signed.

It does matter whether they're on LTIR or regular IR now as there is no cap savings (that I know of) for regular IR, you simply gain a roster space but still are charged the cap hit. But if Hyman and Dermott are both on LTIR, it does make opening night more manageable. - jmatchett383
No, it doesn't matter now. The rules for off season cap compliance are different than rules coming out of training camp for the season.
Again, a team is charged with a cap hit for all players, including those on LTIR. |

I would have NAK on the roster as cover for Pitlick on 4RW. Btw, Pitlick said today he hadn't played center since high school.
I would let Bunnaman and Twarynski, who are 21 years old and have only played 60-something pro games, develop in the AHL.
I don't see how the Flyers can carry 14 forwards. Waiving Morin to carry Twarynski as a healthy scratch would be insane.

It’s also possible that Fletcher might make a trade after the players have received a decent evaluation from the current coaching staff. The talk of a 20 or 21 man roster was very interesting yesterday...along with reference to cap and shuffling players to and from LV.

So who would you have as your spare forward now that you have 12 forwards (+ NAK, - other 2) in your lineup?
Edit: Twarynski would be waived for the 13F/8D scenario. |

Fine, I apologize.
Please answer, if you would, why you didn't feel the need to also respond to the person who originally posted the incorrect information, as they seem just as (or more) at fault for stating it to begin with. That is the part that I am not currently understanding. - jmatchett383
For the same reason why you often reply to other posters with a post and message that is really meant for me. You do that on a regular basis. It's what you choose to do. |

Who says they don't want to play him? The 13th forward also shouldn't be a young player who is better off playing somewhere on a regular basis. |

"Spare forward" implies Pitlick is gonna start 70+ games. We'll be lucky if he manages half that. |

No team should want to play Stewart as a regular in 2019. He's cooked.
I believe you agree with this.
