Andreoff is on a one-way contract (for two years) and Fletcher mentioned him as a guy in the mix to compete for a roster spot.
What did Fletcher do to Andreoff today? - Feanor
On Sept. 13 and Sept. 16, when asked about D roster battles, Chuck mentioned Welinski and didn't mention Friedman when running down names. That says something as to who was a little bit ahead on their chart to start.
In Andreoff's case, he started camp in similar position, but got outplayed.
Friedman had a decent camp, and Welinski got hurt early, so it MAY have flip-flopped them on the depth chart. But don't tell me Friedman is ahead based essentially on the fact that that's what you WANT to be the case.
As far as I know, you aren't at camp daily seeing who is taking reps with which partners. You aren't in the scrums to know which guys get mentioned by the coach or GM without prompting and which guys get mentioned upon the asking.
All of those things are telling.
Welinski opened camp paired with Morin, and they played the first preseason game together. Friedman opened with Wotherspoon. It was only after Welinski went down that Friedman got a shot at RD with someone in the actual roster spot hunt.

Kind of shocked about rubstov. Haven’t been watching but bunnaman over rubstov? I hear both are in great shape.
Laughton and bunnaman your bottom 6 centers.
Yikes - Just5
Not necessarily...we could slot C as Giroux/Coots/Hayes/Laughts and shift around some wings until NOPA is ready

"This afternoon the Blues acquired the 27-year-old defenseman Justin Faulk from Carolina along with a 5th round pick in 2020 for defenseman Joel Edmundson, prospect Dominik Bokk and a seventh-round pick in 2021.
Compounding matters, the Blues then signed Faulk to a seven-year contract extension worth $45.5 million (annual average value of $6.5 million)."
Thoughts on that contract vs Provy? - opeth_pa
Would much rather have Provy at his age and similar contract no contest for me. |

Chuck Fletcher says there's no update on Nolan Patrick right now, hoping to have something more to say in a day or two. |

Nice to see some kids like Bunnaman and Twarynski getting their due. Im excited to see Farabee and Frost still there as well. That's what camps are for. Let the guys who deserve it make it. I think Rubstov's time will come....might be an early call up. I also think Myers will be the top 6 D man and he probably owes his time under coach V at the worlds for his spot. The coach has seen how good he can play. |

I seriously question if he will be "ready" at any point this season. |

I think he's had a good camp and can be an effective 4 th line guy who has some skill, but to me Bunnaman and Twarynski have been better in the games I've watched....but as Bill said we don't see the everyday stuff which obviously factors into it.

Worries me too, but at the same time, with Germ and Mikel both sent down today, it gives me hope Patrick could be ready by game 1. Unless G is moved to cetner |

This cloak and dagger BS with Patrick is getting real tiresome real fast.
Every day it gets more shady.

Maybe they are getting a second opinion. Doesn't bode well, however. |

I'm going by usage in pre-season and public statements from management. You can continue to focus on one-way contract status if you like. But it didn't help Lyon or Andreoff who both got waived before other guys on two-way deals who play the same position. |

It's not actually news. Fletcher said they would have an update mid-week, and it's only Tuesday. |

The Flyers need to put Morin on the ice and play him. He stands out (even from the television) and he needs a true shot to compete at this level. I can really see the Flyers mistakenly moving on and he then having a 10 year career with another team because he got the ice time. - kennygarcon
This!
I don’t see how they can give him a fair evaluation, if all he plays with are the non starters. |

I don't know what you mean by "fair". As Bill said, Morin hasn't been impressive in camp. They're trying to put together the best team they can. Why would they not want him to succeed? He needs to earn his spot and he hasn't. You could play Provorov or Sanheim with any of those guys and you would still see their talent and ability. Morin seems like a great guy and no one can deny his dedication and work ethic, but it sounds like he just hasn't been good enough. It sucks. The injuries have really derailed his career. I dont know if he'll have an NHL career. Maybe he will. Unfortunately for him, right now he has not earned a spot ahead of Haag or Myers. |

over the last few years we have seen other teams have picks hit and play a good bottom 9 role. I think the Flyers pipeline is finally mature enough where we might get a few surprises. |
