There was actually a published article on this and i said to myself slide to where?

Farabee is slide-rule eligible in the AHL this season. That is accurate. As far as what he'd get paid, all ELCs are two-way deals. He'd earn the AHL number of the two-way contract (and has already been paid his signing bonus). The NHL base-salary and the three-year term of the ELC would kick in next season assuming he were to slide this year.

Much like Hagg as a 19-year-old, Farabee is slide-eligible while playing in the AHL. Since they're not CHL-drafted players, they are eligible to both play in the AHL while sliding. He still collects his AHL salary, but it doesn't burn the first year.

Well, most NCAA and Euro players (except for upper-echelon picks) don't sign until they're over 20, so the slide rule almost always applies to CHL-drafted players. I understand why it can be confusing, as it doesn't happen often.

If Stewart makes the team, it would be the biggest waste of a opening night forward roster spot since Rosehill in 2013.

I don't know. Boyd Gordon, Chris VandeVelde, and Blair Jones (and Rinaldo) could all give him a run.

Again it depends on if he is the 13th forward IMO.

I don't really want a kid riding in the press box when he can be playing in Lehigh.

Not that it really matters because I don't think Stewart makes it.

But I would rather have a vet in the pressbox than a kid regardless of whether it is Stewart or someone else.

It's been a running gag now for a few years, including the likes of the legendary VdV. The organization overvalues a certain type of player and it deserves a lot of criticism for it.

I wasn't aware that Stewart and VandeVelde were the same type of player. What "type" of player are you referring to?

What I'm most excited for is the long, written out rationale to keep the Stewart signing in "context". Oh, you mean a professional organization has a rationale for how they do things badly? Bad decision making is bad.

Throughout recent years...the organization has had a different owner, different GM, different VP, different assistant GM, different coaches, many different goaltenders. Who is this faceless entity that overvalues a certain type of player?

What hasn't changed?

One likes to bare his ass, one likes to grab ass. It's a perfect match.

Edit: I do not know if Matthew's bare cheeks were visible, it was probably just his underwear being visible with his pants lowered. I don't want to get ripped for commenting without "learning the facts."

And yet they've all fallen victim to the same bad groupthink that a player like Chris Stewart deserves a spot on an NHL roster.

Well, still way different than "exposing his genitals" which was what was said. Gotta admit that is a huge leap.

can anyone explain how the leafs are going to be under the cap for the season?
- kej83

I'm still not getting this. They're currently at $95.54M with a 24-man roster (not including Hyman, who is on regular IR). If they use all of the LTIR for Horton and Clarkson ($10.55M), that gets them to $84.99M, which is still $3.49M over the cap. I'm sure I'm missing something, but how are they going to shed that money while keeping a 23-man roster (currently 3 goalies on the roster)?

I was curious about this myself. And also enjoying it because I hate the Leafs.
