Looking at this lineup, it almost seems necessary to trade Risto for any type of top 6 forward. Would Buffalo be better with another top 6 forward at the expense of Ristolainen, or better off keeping Ristolainen? I think the answer is pretty transparent. We have already seen the latter for too long. Everytime Risto is on the ice in a Sabres sweater his value will continue to drop. He needed to be dealt a while ago. If Botts can still get a top 6 forward during the deadline it has to happen.

It is a delicate situation in my mind.
Do they need a 2C? Probably not for the long haul, given Cozens and potentially Mitts assuming that role hopefully next season. I'm becoming more worried about Mitts, hopefully he is a guy who steadily builds like Sam has. Cozens seems to be Eichel lite, but we haven't seen enough.

I think the better move if they can't land a 2C for say the next 2 years while those two develop would be to get a very productive 2RW.

In either case, I don't think Risto alone let's it done...they likely will need to add. Is Sheary enough, could someone get excited with Tage?
