I'm not going to criticize Botts for sending him down. I think he should have gotten his 9 though. This is probably the right move, but I didn't like the way they orchestrated it with only giving him 8 mins and then scratching him. They already decided in June he wouldn't play.

There's a direct quote that I'm sure plenty folks here saw, that was along the lines of he'd have to be extremely impressive to make the team this year. I think he had a solid camp, but I agree he didn't show enough to prove he'd be solid for the season.

I agree with you that he deserved his 9 games.

I don't remember that pre-season what so ever. Raw Deal GMTM had a much different mindset than Botts of course. I have no clue if he warranted those 9 games. Maybe because he was 2OA, they almost had to let him play?

Girgs destroyed Reinhart in camp and then Reinhart kept getting destroyed for the rest of PS and his 9 games.

Ah yeah I went to that scrimmage. I member now. Yeah he definitely wasn't. From what I remember, I think Cozens fared better than Reinhart in his first camp.

I think this is really indicative of how horrible phail lousley was as a coach. He sucked.

That and next year with the new jerseys and cap freedom, they are looking to the future.

I still think this is the best roster in 12 years.

22,28, sobotka aren't going to make or break this season.

It's the tank guys that need to grow.

These players, this situation, and my opinion of sending Cozens back to the WHL has absolutely nothing to do with your terrible comparisons and scouting reports.

I have zero issue that he was sent back. I even preferred it.

Imagine if Sobotka improves this year under a different coach. He becomes an acceptable bottom 6F.

Sam was non existent in his 9 games. I think he had 1 point. The team was terrible in his defense.


They also were trying to get mceichel. So 18 year old sam helped get eichel

No he looked not even close to ready

The difference to me was speed. Skunk was a step behind while Cozens looks like he can keep up with NHLers. Still doesn't mean he's ready, but he will be an impact player sooner than Sam was.

It's not a hill I'm going to die on. I figured when he was drafted that he wouldn't make the cut, and he didn't. No big deal. Thought he deserved a taste. That's it

What if Botts is a genius to hold out from giving up Risto until the start or a little into the season? What if the offers are increasing as teams are a little more desperate for a RD?

I'm not seeing anything glaringly awesome about that group. Vanek and pommer were solid.

Since they lost 23 and 48, this in my opinion is the best squad.

He's very upset that the kids are getting a raw deal. I guess it's an opinion, but I haven't seen a single kid get a raw deal. I said in the last blog, if Olofsson is cut from this team, it's a (frank)ing conspiracy. Otherwise, who the hell else has earned a spot here?

I wanted Smith an Asplund to supplant the city of Lockport. But it doesn't look like that's happening at the start of this season. Lazar hasn't shown much of anything, ever. Asplund simply hasn't had a great camp. Smith is looking like a tweener every passing day. The defense is going to be legit interesting when everyone is healthy. Forwards to me seem a lot more clear cut.

1-3 forwards will be cut from this team.

I'm upset about a lot of things.

The overall theme to my discontent is that the team is untalented. If they were good I wouldn't need turnover. Similarly, when most teams build their top six, it doesn't include a rookie on the first line, a third line wing at second line center, and no viable candidate for the 6th spot. You can't have three questions in your top six and be good.

But yeah, cherry pick how Lazar isn't any better or whatever to avoid the real issue. Even I have to admit that the bottom 3 aren't going to make or break this team. I just hoped they would use the bottom 3 to hopefully find someone worthy to help the top nine.

I guess you could say that but it might affect his mind yes the nine games doesn’t seem like that much of a problem but what happens if he struggles and he gets depressed and maybe it goes into the back of his mind I thought it would be easier

Some players use that for motivation some players don’t like that
