Agreed. I think he was rushed. Looking decent in 6 or whatever games at the end of a poopty season when teams weren't playing that hard against us wasnt exactly the best gauge.

I find this absolutely hilarious.

From a Blackhawks writer:

On the other hand, Nylander...

"It’s apparent the Blackhawks want winger Alex Nylander to make the opening night roster. He played on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Drake Caggiula on Wednesday and despite creating several scoring chances with his offensive prowess, he struggled in the neutral and defensive zones. I isolated on him when he was on the ice. While the knock on Nylander has always been consistency and the level he competes at, what I saw was a player who wasn’t sure where to be or what to do. Was Nylander second-guessing himself? Was he afraid of making a mistake? Whatever it was, he didn’t look great in what may have been a make-or-break game for him. He’s still on the roster as of Thursday morning. We’ll see if he makes the trip to Europe or if he heads to Rockford."

Bobby Orr-esque on that rush and air orne shot to win!
He doesn't resemble the same player...the Hockey-player- whisperer has alot of work between him, Risto, Pilut and who ever they want to prop-up for a trade

That is true. He's still only 20, and has a full season under his belt. Time will tell.

But
But
But...
In 2030 they will say
He's only 32, so what if he has played 14 years in the A, his time is coming.
Complete bust.

I don’t remember the last time someone dominated the WJC like he did and has already fallen off the face of the Earth in some ways.

In Casey I see a player with amazing hands, vision, and shot. I also see a player who has average speed and below average conditioning. The pace is too fast for him, which I didn’t think would be an issue (I thought he’d pop off 50 points in his rookie year after his 6 game debut).

Casey needs to continue to work on his conditioning and his speed. The second he catches up to the pace though I think he is somebody who can be a high end 2C behind Jack.

He’s this decades Alexander Semin. At least Semin had a few good years in the show at least. Nylander has all the individual skills in the world in a skills competition but that doesn’t make a good hockey player.

Seriously? I see an above average NHL shot and that's it. His hands are shaky, his vision is non-existent and his speed is definitely below average, like you said.

Some guys just can't make that jump to the NHL so soon, or at all.

I think he will be a consistent 20/20 guy in a few years, but that's his ceiling.

Eh. Semin was an elite talent. One of the best shots of his era too

Nylander isn’t in that echelon of talent

Agreed. But I do think he spent a lot of time and energy trying to play a solid two way game last year. When you are always defending, it’s hard to put up offensive numbers. With better wings and d behind him, maybe he can focus more on attacking. I agree that he has not looked great thus far this preseason but I’m not ready to label him a bust yet.

Nylander might not have had the talent level Semin had but his skills warrant at minimum top 6 scoring forward. His consistency, laziness, and stubbornness though could very well lead to a career as a top 6 AHLer though.

We have only done a doppel a couple times, but as you can guess, I love them. We did just release a coffee Bock today that I named Bock Blocker. It's near doppelbock range at 7.6%abv

Saying his ceiling is 20/20 is not overly harsh, in fact, it's pretty generous at this point.

We'll be lucky if he turns into a poor man's Vanek.

Sounds good. I’m not well versed in Dopples, in fact optimator is prob the only one I’ve had more than once. It’s not my favorite style, but adding coffee would definitely peak my interest. Big fan of coffee stouts/porters.

Lol thanks. Doppels are just double bocks. They are pretty big malt bombs with a lot of dark fruit and caramel flavor, and definitely not sessionable. But they are a nice sipper as a night cap.
