I think Roslovic & Perrault is a mediocre return
1) they’ve gotta be desperate- let’s take advantage
2) didn’t they already offer us that & Botts turned it down?
3) our Center depth moving forward is in great shape- I’d rather have a scoring winger than Roslovic

Botts is right to hold out to get a better offer for Risto imo
Even if it means we have to add
Acquire a “core” piece

If Roslovic is, then fine
But then we should be trading Mitts for a scoring winger

- jdfitz77

Yep we have enough Roslovics and Perreaults on the team. Perreault is 31 a LWer (we don’t need LW) and had 25% less points than the dman we’d be trading them. Hard pass

I’m fine swapping Lazar and Okposo, but to be clear Lazar is an absolute nothing too

Yeah, and it’s bonkers
Lazar produces ZERO

If there was a reasonable way to get rid of Okposo, we’d all be for it
Obviously Botts couldn’t get rid of him
He didn’t sign him
We are stuck it appears

When Okposo becomes “Moulson” then I’m all for demoting him
But let’s at least replace him with someone with potential (at the very least) to help

- jdfitz77

We're there. Subtract his power play time from last year and he's a 17 point player.

It's over. Mojo took his PP spot.

Great...
I’m not saying to demote E Rod for Okposo

You’re saying to demote Okposo for Lazar

- jdfitz77

If okposo is on the 4th line

Lazar is a better 4th liner

IMO it's tage or okposo for the third line spot

That’s still more than Lazar

U wanna talk about replacing him with someone with potential (Tage? Asplund?)...
then I’ll listen

But i still think it’s very presumptuous to base your opinion on a terribly small sample size of a couple split squad preseason games

What rumor was that?

Has Homie weighed in on this new rotation of Jets/Sabres rumors?

- jdfitz77

Risto is safe

Just like the last 6 months

Is he though?
Okposo is ok defensively
And at least he has the ability to score when Larsson & Girgs flip the ice
Idk that Lazar does

Ideally, we could trade Okposo
Have u heard that Botts even tried?
Or is it just a forgone conclusion that we are stuck with him?

I'm basing my opinion on the entirety of Okposo's continually declining Sabres career.

Tage has absolutely outplayed him. So if that's my choice, I'll take tage. I think Lazar adds an element of jam, so ill take him over Okposo as well.

If we’re playing the best 12 forwards neither Lazar or Okposo dress

In a couple split squad pre-season games...
big deal

At some point, Okposo will be done
Now may be the time
But he did enough last year to earn regular season games this year- to start

This extremely small preseason sample size means very little

We're clearly past that. This preseason did not reward the 12 best. It's a moot point anyway. Okposo's job is not now - nor was it ever - in doubt. He's on the roster, so good luck to him

I’m not 100% sure. He looks absolutely cooked.

Like I think he might consider retiring

I think it would take a bad stretch of games & then getting sent down for him to give up the $$$

And even then, he could do what Moulson did & just play it out for the rest of his contract

They let him shoot first in the shootout, and then ralph talked about how Mitts is competing for a spot. He's safe and he'll collect his paycheck

I understand the way things are, but I disagree with it.

What's best for the team should trump veteran egos. The status quo has not worked. They will make decisions based on contractual obligations.

We have to pretend, for one more year, that Okposo might turn it around. I get it.

That was the interesting part to me. Like a swan song for him to try and score before he’s gone.

Idk man. After today I think they have to seriously consider all options

It was never a real offer, and yet many Wings fans thought it was too much to give.

The similarity between his playing career demise and Moulson's is striking.
