Josh Allen has been a bottom 5 QB this year and the Bills are 3-1 so I still fail to see where I'm wrong by saying a good running game and defence can get you places.

Blake Bortles played in an AFC Championship game a few years ago. Mitch Trubisky won the NFC North last year. Marcus Mariota has led the Titans to the playoffs two years in a row.

My point is the Broncos are 0-4.

I’m not keeping count
But it seems like most like the direction of the team and there’s just a handful that are a lot louder with their disapproval

Regardless...
This is certainly not a point worth arguing

The Broncos are not playing good defence. They also lost two games by last second second field goals. My original point stands though. Bears are 3-1, Bills are 3-1 both can run the ball and play very strong defence.

I think people are divided into two camps, and neither of them is 'fire Botts'. One is the camp that thinks 80-85 points is the benchmark for a successful season for the GM and the team, and then the second group of us think that should get him fired.

Why are we all arguing on 85 points before the season is even played? Because there is an overwhelming sense from NHL media, national writers, fans, other teams fans, etc, that the sabres will be better but probably miss the playoffs. We all mostly agree on what this roster is.

I'm in the camp that wonders how that can be acceptable. I think if we miss the playoffs it means we are still worse than at least sixteen other teams. Sixteen teams that haven't all had good drafts, or good former GM's, the best owners, etc. 16 teams that have made awful deals that 'set them back'. Sure, one of those teams will be Tampa Bay, a model franchise. But I'm not setting the bar there.

Am I better than Columbus that lost almost all their good players in the off-season and spent the future to try to win last year? Am I better than Arizona which has Phil Kessel and basically no one else? Better than Ottawa and Detroit that aren't even trying to win? Better than the Rangers who are in a rebuild? Can I be better than the Islanders who are nothing special, who lost their franchise player and still made the playoffs?

See my point? Other teams are crap too. Other teams have problems. Playoffs is a pathetically low bar in hockey. It doesn't take a 5 year rebuild. Any team that doesn't have an awful season makes it. So just go make the playoffs, and maybe that's a sign that the GM isn't totally out to lunch, and deserves a couple more years to actually ice a good team. But if he can't even field a slightly below average team after three years...

Botts 1st year Roster, and what a roster it was.
He did bring in some of them, he wasn't blameless.
But look at all that talent he could use as assets to bolster the re-rebuild!!!
And that defense, how did they not make the playoffs? Mystifying.

Call me crazy but if Josh Allen is out for 4-6 weeks, we should be calling NYG about Eli Manning's availability... I'm completely serious.

I highly doubt he would fetch a 1st from any team at this point and lord knows he's needed a change of scenery for a while now... He is in the last year of his contract.

If he plays well, Allen sits and learn from a Super Bowl winning QB with tons of knowledge and experience. After today, I think he needs a lot of coaching up still. He is forcing too many plays and making too many bad reads. He needs to calm the F down.

We have 9 draft picks for 2020 - There should be a lot of depth drafting with two 5ths and three 6ths. We can afford to give up a 2nd for Eli Manning.

Crazy or not?

Eli Manning is done. There is no use giving up any sort of asset for him.

If Allen is out next week, and I doubt he will be, Barkley is more than capable of handling the job for a week or so. At worst, he is back after the bye.

Here's a couple...

I am rooting hard for Josh to succeed. He is a young, raw talent with a propensity to make several ill-advised throws each game...not 50/50 throws, but like 10/90. If he can get that drap out of his system, then he can be a pretty good QB. I believe he will do it, but it us going to be a long road until he gets there. He is seeing how devastating those turnovers can be.

Now, here is food for thought...
Yesterdays performance was near Petersen level, lol. Not quite there, but holy crap God aweful.

Not sure if Daboll or Josh who made the decision to go long so many times, but it is clear had he stayed with the 10 yard throws, he would have been far more successful. Live and learn.

I think Beasley drops as many as he catches, and can't seem to come up with a catch that is admittedly low and difficult...but come on, get 1 would ya. I expected much more from him to be honest. I'm not saying he is horrible, but he drops more than a few along the way

Buffalo's D is legit very, very good...just too bad the O was planning their bye week vacations.
Gore is a friggin beast..can't wait for Singletary to return...what a great 1-2 punch.
Yeldon had a 50/50 day...some nice catches, but man some God awful drops.
The O-line had too many issues, which surprised me even though NE D is pretty stellar as well.

I like your take and feel very much the same way for the most part. Josh needs to be better. So do Beasley and Yeldon (the drops are getting to be a problem from both of them).

Hyde and Poyer don't get enough love from the national media. They are quite the tandem on our defense and never get the recognition they should game in and game out from the national analysts. Individually they may not stand out, but as a tandem it doesn't get any better.

I hope this game is able to be used as a building block with lots of lessons to be learned. While it was a loss, the defense really made a statement yesterday. Too bad the offense made one as well, but not in a good way....

For the first five or so games, I'd like to see the following

Olofsson - Eichel - Reinhart
Skinner - Johansson - Vesey
Sheary - Mittlestat - Tage
Girgs - Asplund - Lazar
Larson

Dahlin - Miller
MCCabe - Montour (misses 1st game or so, move Risto up)
Gilmour - Risto (up on 2nd pairing for 1st game or so, replace with Nelson)
Scandella
Nelson

That would mean
Okposo, Sobotka, are waived
Joker is sent down

They'll get the love when they start winning games on a more consistent level, something that, while it might be unfair, can still very well happen this year. It's all about Allen and the offense to make that happen.

And while this season isn't anywhere near over, and playoffs are still a great possibility, there is absolutely zero excuse for not drafting a big time receiver next year.

Zay Jones should be cut. Duke Williams needs to be elevated.

For how frustrated I was in the first half, I cannot complain with the end result.

The Patriots didn't win this game in my opinion. The Bills lost the game. The Bills beat themselves. The defense had the best performance against Brady that I think I have ever seen. This team can be dangerous if the offense can play smart football.
