I'm more worried about them being ready for Friday's game.

Well, if they get their asses handed to them by a bunch of Swiss players.....

They definitely should win, but they didn't set the world on fire in preseason, which granted, doesn't matter. Just hoping they've got a solid grip on the new system, and start strong. Is Friday a home or away game for us?

I just want them to be ready. If for no other reason than someone gets hurt because they aren't taking the game seriously enough. Because you know the Swiss will be taking it very seriously. They don't want to be embarrassed.

I don't see it being an issue at all, half of our team is still essentially in a roster/ice time battle. Guys will not be taking this game easy.

Does anyone know what the ice rink size is? Is it standard NHL, or the larger ice surface (or is that just a Swede thing?)

Seventy years ago (or 11, can't remember), they played a full 60-minute exhibition against the Phantoms and lost 1-0.

They finished with the 5th best record in the conference and were one Carcillo fight (and 2 Marty Biron saves) away from taking the eventual SC champs to Game 7.

This is the only site I go to for any hockey discussion. It's not perfect, but it beats dealing with Eagles fans who masquerade as Flyers fans everywhere else.

They need a shutdown guy like Grossmann to help with this.

Not sure how or why you are so concerned with this game today. We have a new coach and ice time is up for grabs, guys won't be taking the game off.

marty biron not being able to control rebounds was the reason they lost. the pens being angry that carcillo pummeled talbot is the biggest myth piece of dogpoop perpetuated

I hope so. I guess I am still in "old mode" thinking. Especially after the coach felt it necessary to "speed up the process" because too many vets were loafing it (my words).

Slow starts have been an ongoing problem with this core for years, and so far, even with the new coach and system, I haven't seen much to change my opinion of that.

And on a personal level, living in a 2 unit apartment with a family full of Rangers fans downstairs, I don't want to have to listen to them give me any poop over losing to a bunch of Euro B-leaguers.

Haha i hear you on that, Frank the Rags. I'm very optimistic this year, AVs tenure in this league has shown he is a very capable coach and for these vets on this team I think they know the window for them is starting to have an end date. It's now or never, this could be the start of a very good run for the Flyers. Lets start on the right foot.

Probably the most prominent post of the day, the only one that carries any true merit.

Hell, if they lose, just fold Philadelphia. Just stop going, make everyone move away, and make Philadelphia become jealous of how hip and upscale Centralia is by comparison.
