Ek saying Comcast wants results NOW and the future will be traded to ensure it if need be
Good day - Just5
What sucks about this is that the Flyers will cater to the pressure from the WIP fans and not those of us who understand what Hexy was trying to do even if he didnt succeed.
It still doesn't change the fact that Hexy's theories are the right way to go. I want a team that can be good for a long time and has a chance to win for many years.
Not a team that mortgages the future for a small window to win now.
The chances are pretty much the same either way, so I would rather have more chances.

Dunno if I agree with that assessment , what he is saying is if the team struggles at the start the possibility is there that they make a move..like it is for every other team it just so happens that the Flyers strong point is in the prospect pool.
Me personally, I'm not an WIP fan, I also have 0 issue if the Flyers make a deal that helps them as a team even if it costs a prospect or two. I'm not of the belief that the only way to succeed at winning a cup is to only focus on the future.
"Comcast wants results and Fletcher has been very active already. The Flyers have some serious prospect depth on both Defense and Offense. Players who ready now, some who are at the most a year away. But the Flyers expect to be battling for the division NOW. The possibility that they make a big move is very real...Especially if they get off to a tough start...And their early schedule doesn't help them. Starting in Prague, coming home for one game then heading to the West Coast." |

Waive that dude thats currently being held together with duct tape and baling wire.
No, not Neuvirth, he's gone... the OTHER fragile goalie. |

Does anyone know what the ice rink size is? Is it standard NHL, or the larger ice surface (or is that just a Swede thing?) - leon neon
That's a very good question. I was thinking the same thing for Friday's game. |

I have no problem with Elliott as a back up but DeSmith is a better goalie and younger. Waive or Trade Elliott |

My problem with Elliott is that I think he's cooked right about now. Its a shame, but its really stuff that is beyond his control, age + injuries. |

Very well said and I agree. I think he actually did succeed in re stocking the team and cleaning up the cap. What he didn't succeed in is getting the team to contention soon enough, and his idea of go time was different from ownership's.

Ek says a lot of crap, most of it wrong. I’m sure Comcast is putting some pressure on and that Fletcher May be a little more aggressive than Hextall (which may not be a bad thing) but I doubt he’s going to turn around and swap Sanheim, Myers, Frost and Farabee for a couple of 30 year old fading star players if the team starts out a little slow.

That hasn't been his MO so far, and I doubt he will. What I do think is that if the team falters this year, the changes will be to the veteran core in order to shake up the chemistry. I could see jake or JVR going. |

It all depends on how the team does and what side of the dividing line he stays on. While I wasn't in favor of some of the moves he has made, it hasn't been that detrimental to the future. The question is, if the team struggles will that change. Will the pressure from above force some moves that really shouldn't be made in an effort to win now.

My worry is that the strategy might change as you say, but so far it looks like he has a solid appreciation of what is required to build a consistent winner in the cap environment. Build through the draft. |
