Sending down Hickey is completely illogical to me. Boychuck no longer fires his cannons and the same can be said of Leddy and they're still with the team??
Dobson is what 19 old? If he gets more than a 10 game look he'd a be a 6th or 4th because it's a waste to have him here otherwise.
Not sure how Dal Colle made the squad either.
The Brassard signing sems just as stupid as the Varlamov deal but less risky. It's a better option than Tanner Fritz - SpeedDemon99
Thanks for the insight. |

I don’t think Noah will see the ice to much in the beginning of the season but could work his way in as he grows while practicing and working with the team.
As Lou said playing in Jrs would not help his development. |

I like to consider myself a realist. I’m certainly not someone who stares through rose colored glasses but I think it’s hysterical how many of the idiots blogging on this site and others have picked the islanders to finish last in the league or division. Then they’ll act shocked when they make the playoffs again like it was some unbelievable circumstance. Defied the odds again, incredible. I think it has more to do with bias and blind homerism. The team is not a contender but they’re a playoff team even in this improved division. I read the garbage on here and crack up I can’t take one blogger on here seriously for multiple reasons least of all this. Bunch of (frank)ing idiots. 😂😂😂🤣 |

Well, on this site, part of it is trolling since they know half of you guys are going to flip out and smash the reply button
In general, though, I think part of it is that a decent number of players that make up the core are homegrown and developed when exactly no one was paying any attention to the Isles (and when the Isles were beyond terrible), so a lot of people look at the roster, don't really know anything about the players except that they've been on a bad team for a while, and rate them accordingly. They don't really know much about who brings what.
I always loved when the Isles would get their single nationally televised game for the year, would actually play well, and the announcers would have to talk about the players while obviously having no clue who they are...mispronouncing names, talking about Bailey like he's a promising youngster when he was like 27 at the time, etc. |

Announcers like many fans of other teams on HB would always mention the need for a goalie or the roster and no mention of Cappy and his dopey system being a problem. |

Interesting bit from Katie Strang's article in the Athletic about the Lehner situation.
It is odd to me still, knowing this, that the Islanders did not bring him back and, instead, inked Semyon Varlamov to a four-year, $20 million deal. The Isles expressed interest in trading for Varlamov the year prior, sure, but why not keep Lehner? Lamoriello told me the Isles had “every intention” of bringing Lehner back, but declined to go into specifics about what transpired, only calling it “an unfortunate thing.” Lehner, in a recent ESPN article, said he felt he’d have been brought back if it weren’t for guaranteed contracts (I’m sure the NHLPA was less than thrilled with the suggestion of anything but). I sense there is a more complicated story here, one in which the two sides have different views of how everything transpired, and we may not get more than the broad strokes of the thing until there’s some distance from the situation.

Josh Ho-Sang wasn’t here with Bridgeport for his 1st practice after #Isles
sent him down. Coach Brent Thompson: “As far as I know right now, it’s a couple of days just to collect himself and go from there.” I asked if he does expect Ho-Sang to report: “I really don’t know.” #NHL |

Maybe, but maybe Lou is working out a deal for him and they're just keeping him off the ice as a precaution. |

#Isles D Noah Dobson said he didn't ask to switch from No. 45 to No. 8. Came into the room and saw No. 8 on his helmet (Lou not a big fan of higher numbers, at least for younger players). Noah said it makes sense to add 5 + 3 - his junior number - to get 8.

Not sure what everyone is so shocked about. We all love Lehner and what He did last year. That said with all the stuff going on in his life that he is currently doing a very good job keeping in check... You can't give that guy a 4 year contract. .. CAN'T
They offered him 2 years.. said it was best offer... and they hung up the phone.
Once that happened it allowed the Isles coaches to get "their guy" in Varlamov. They did the right thing by the offer.. but make no mistake.. these goalie coaches wanted Varly.

I still have the Jersey I spent all my paper route money on when I was a kid. Flatley wore number 8 his rookie year. I got his jersey b/c I knew he would be around for a while.... He changed his number to 26 his second year. (should have gotten Trots) |
