It feels nice to be back in cap hell after having all that cap space Hexy created.

That other way wasn't working for me and it feels more normal to be back to a cap strapped bubble team.

Thanks Comcast for getting the financials back on track after those 5 years of Hextall malfeasance.

- MBFlyerfan

The team is not competing in the Cap Cup. Had Hexy's strategies brought results, he and the cap savings would still have been here.
Flyers are in cap hell as much as at least 80% of other teams.

Saying Myers should ask for a trade is some funny poop.

I think the point was that AV said that they were in the Offensive Zone for over 30 seconds and not 1 shot was on net.
- RustyPipes

Shots on net no longer matter. All that matters is the shot attempt for/against difference. That's how you truly evaluate a player.

So if Ghost fires a slapshot from the point into the shin pads of a player 3 feet in front of him, and that player takes the ricocheted shot down and scores on a breakaway, it just means that Ghost had an even sequence since he was on for 1 shot attempt for and 1 shot attempt against. All a wash.

One can debate how wisely or foolishly the Flyers used the roughly $33.5 million of cap space for 2019-20 that they had on the first day of the 2019 off-season (note: this figure was before deducting 2/3 of Radko Gudas' salary, and the buyouts of Andrew MacDonald and David Schlemko but based upon the NHL's cap ceiling that was later set about $1.5 million below what was projected at the time). The team's record this upcoming season will the ultimate arbiter of whether Fletcher's spending paid off or not in the immediate term.

Specifically, Kevin Hayes had better be worth all this.

Huberdeau picks the Flyers to win the cup this year

https://www.nhl.com/news/...-cup-champion/c-309643378

Listen to Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau. He was stumping for the Philadelphia Flyers, who missed the postseason by 16 points last season.

The Flyers added Alain Vigneault as coach, signed forward Kevin Hayes, traded for defensemen Matt Niskanen and Justin Braun and will have goalie Carter Hart for his first full NHL season.

"I think Philadelphia has a pretty good team, a good chance," Huberdeau said. "I think they added some good players and new coaches. I know Alain. He's pretty good. I think if they put everything together, they can surprise. I mean, you saw it with St. Louis last year. That would be a good pick."

Good fantasy draft last night boys! Quick question, does anybody use the Start Active Players for the week tool? Are there pros and cons? In other words, should I use it? lol
- bmoreflyer

I use it just in case I forget or cant get to the site for whatever reason. I usually end up checking every day and make adjustments, but it is good so at least you don't have empty roster spots on any given day.

They aren't a group of amateur teen players who will succumb to peer pressure.

Everyone succumbs to peer pressure regardless of age. People care what others think about them, that is what drives us and has us act the way we do. If that isnt the case why dont grown men share their feelings?

I was under the impression that this roster that was submitted to the league was our opening night roster. I'm glad it was clarified that we can add. It is clear to me that this was simply the best roster to submit as it is cap compliant and we don't have to place anyone on waivers.

No one is asking for a trade.

Carter Hart will be fine.

Someone will shoot the puck.

Someone own da Chiefs...

Carry on.

You are right. I would much rather this bubble team be unable to do anything.

In a perfect world we aren't a cap team and and we aren't taking the Hexy approach either.

Reality of it is you win exactly nothing for being a cap winner.

Chicago's initial roster has 13 F, 6 D and 2 G.

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/blackhawks

Their top draft pick (#3 overall), Kirby Dach, is injured. But I assume he would have been going back to the WHL anyway.

What has Myers done that gives him the ammo to ask for a trade?

At a certain point last season he started to look ready to compete for an NHL spot but beyond that.....
- opeth_pa

the draft was a nice little reprieve into common sense last night huh?

12 short hours later here we are stuck in idiocy again....

Not to be a homer and despite how meh we've looked in preseason, but I keep thinking this team has a ton of the right components to have a great year or even run. We have the core with high level talent, the veterans both in forwards and defenders, we have a flux of youth that will continue to grow and throughout the year more will likely be in the lineup, and finally goaltending in Hart. When you compare our roster and the makes of it, you can see similarities to recent teams who won or made it to the cup. With these teams it also seems a young guy always steps up or has that crazy impact (Guentzel with Pens the one year, Vrana for the Caps, Thomas for the Blues). It's a major IF, but I think there is potential for us to be that hot-surprise team

Only issue I have with Myers being kept off the opening night roster is it will upset his father, Michael.

You do not want to upset Michael Myers, especially this time of year.

team speed is still an area they could improve on. They will need to play AV's system really well, if they do, they will be competitive and have a shot.

Speed is an issue, but I still think we have potential speed to add with Patrick, Pitlick in the bottom 6 and then when/if Frost and Farabee are in the lineup. I could see us struggling a little to start the season adjusting to AV's system and tempo. In general though, just having Patrick back will be great for us down the middle.
