This part gives me hope. No way in can be close to as bad as last year. I doubt we are setting any records this time around. And if we are it doesn't matter what else happens.

One thing that stuck out to me was the Dzone coverage, it seemed much better in the preseason and i thought that was a real poor spot last year. |

For sure time to do it, and the preseason was not exactly encouraging but we have a lot of new faces and a new coaching staff, it might take 10-15 games to really start clicking. Not that i'm expecting them to stumble out of the gate but I wouldn't be too quick to judge early on. - ClaudeFather
If we do start slow I hope it doesn't take that long. The Blues notwithstanding, I think a slow start buries us again.
If they can tread water than so be it. But I hope it is closer to 10 games than 15...... |

I noticed that as well. And it started from Hart on out.
I was troubled by the lack of offense. Which according to the way AV lets his guys go, it much more of a freewheeling be creative type strategy as long as you take care of your own end and stick to the defensive system.
Hopefully they get it together.

I really want to. I do.
And people may discount preseason as being preseason, and normally I would agree. But this is/was supposed to be different in many ways because of the new coaches, new system, new management. I felt this team needed to start playing for REAL before the regular season started and they really didn't. I saw the same crap I've seen for many seasons now.
So forgive me if I am not that enthusiastic about what I've seen so far and don"t really have any confidence that come Friday they just get it all together and flip that switch. The switch needed to be flipped two weeks ago IMO.
Now I am not going to turn in to a team hater like some in here. I still love this team and want them to do well. But its hard giving them the benefit of the doubt any more.
Its time to put up or shut up. - MBFlyerfan
How many games did it take NYR to adjust to AV system in his first year before winning ECF? |

Yea, I'm not expecting them to fall on their face but there might be some kinks to work out that's all. One thing on our side is that there seems to be some practice days worked in for us early on. |

I have no idea but I am sure you do since you brought it up. But they were a playoff team already. Having lost in the semis the year before under Tortorella.
edit:
they started off 5-7-0 with 10 road games and 2 home games. 1st 9 games on the road due to MSG renovations. |

What's Matt Walker up to?
Also, pretty sure our 1st d pairing could benefit from Pronger's stare. - jmatchett383

Everyone succumbs to peer pressure regardless of age. People care what others think about them, that is what drives us and has us act the way we do. If that isnt the case why dont grown men share their feelings? - xShoot4WarAmpsx
You routinely try to compare your own experiences to try and explain how professional athletes react. It's a foolish endeavor.
Your question of why don't grown men share their feelings is hysterical. |

I was under the impression that this roster that was submitted to the league was our opening night roster. I'm glad it was clarified that we can add. It is clear to me that this was simply the best roster to submit as it is cap compliant and we don't have to place anyone on waivers.
No one is asking for a trade.
Carter Hart will be fine.
Someone will shoot the puck.
Someone own da Chiefs...
Carry on. - cdearth23
From that point through the rest of the season, every team has submit their daily roster to the NHL offices by 5:00PN eastern time. That roster has to be cap compliant every day. A team can make changes as they see fit as long as they're cap compliant.

Comon MJL. Its silly to argue that just because they are pros that they don't get peer pressure from their peers.
Of course they do. Being pros or adults doesn't mean they stop being humans.

The Flyers haven't exactly shown many deadly or creative offensive chances throughout the entire preseason. I know some veterans can flip a switch once the regular season starts but it's definitely a tad concerning. |

Great argument! As usual when you got nothing just throw poop at the wall and hope it sticks. Really dont bother replying because I wont be after this. If you want to be childish and feel like having the last word wins you an argument, by all means do what you need to do. |

I use it just in case I forget or cant get to the site for whatever reason. I usually end up checking every day and make adjustments, but it is good so at least you don't have empty roster spots on any given day. - MBFlyerfan

We're talking about players taking direction from their coach. As a whole, this is not a group of impressionable teens. The group who should have the most influence on younger impressionable players are the veterans such as Giroux and Couturier. So unless anyone thinks the leaders of the team are telling younger impressionable players not to listen to the coach, then it does not relate. A professional hockey team is a completely different dynamic. |
