I don't think it would have hurt the Leafs to put him in.
I just think it would have been cool to hear him announced on opening night.

Shore vs. Spezza won't be a difference maker.

Yeah, he did do enough to earn a spot against Columbus. He has 16 years in the league which is enough to learn from being benched because you didn't put in an effort. If he doesn't show up against Columbus on Friday, he can expect to find his gear in a bag more often. They are sending him a message.

This isn't the 2000's country club. Guys don't come here to retire or rest on their laurels.

Shore put in more of an effort than Spezza in training camp, and deserves the honour of starting on Opening Night in my opinion.

I think that's what this is about. You reward your players for their effort.

What is the advanced stat for this - Caresi? Trieshardsi? It's laughable a) How much time I've spent arguing this today, b) we're talking about a 6-8 minute 4C and c) how certain people arguing with me are that Babckock's ego and his only real mechanism at taking a swipe at Dubas' roster construction haven't in any way weighed into this decision.
