Today @ 5:27 PM ET
I will have more thoughts later but Hawks didn't look good.
This lineup could realistically have a different (and improved) look for game 2.
Murphy and de Haan likely will be the 2nd pairing.
Dach is getting closer.
Lehner could start (not saying today was on Crawford but could see Lehner going next game).

Wow there was a lot of what I saw for that 10-12 game terrible stretch in November/December last year.
Poor entries, puck retrieval and poor coverage... Granted we were down two starting Dmen. - Popsghostly
Keep in mind, there is a ton of new faces and they haven’t played together much. They’ll need time to gel. R-E-L-A-X fellas. One Goal not One Game. |

Gus led Dmen in ice time..
And Zach Smith sucks. Never should have moved AA for him. Brutal move there Stanley unless Dach plays there all year - PatShart
Well AA was a -3 in their 1st game. |

Agree. Blues looked hapless when we played them the first time last year but still not happy. |

Was just about to say that.
Lots of chemistry to be built still. |

I had to watch on a minimal minimal window due to being at the office so couldn't exactly see individual players.
Nylander got that first goal but how did he look for the rest of the game? |

Crow could Have been better he was asleep for 3 out of those 4 goals that killed any of the team's momentum. |

Flyers forwards also split our zone defense countless times and left guys out of position. Stick to man defense JC. Your zone defense is nothing like Trotz’s other than you call it a zone defense.
On a more positive note, it’s good to have Shaw back and he fits that 2nd line well. Kubalik and Saad played well together too. Kampf is still a 4C playing 3C tho. |

With all the new players on the team since the end of last season the teams play should improve with time or at least that is what I am hoping for. Regarding Crow the Soft goals that he let in were deflating to the team any other goalie should and could have stopped those and he didn't it reminded me of 2012 when we played Phoenix in the playoffs. Hoping for a better result in game 2 Thursday night. |

Tough loss, a little worse than a 4-3 score indicates.
Still optimistic for this year versus last year.
But would heartily agree with poster(s) disappointed in what looks to be a still passive PK. |

A lot of nice saves - without him, Flyers might have scored 8 or 9.
But had he made the saves he usually makes, they might have had only 2 or 1. |

hawks outhit the flyers 26-16...WTF oh but got filled at the dot almost 2-1..
and they coughed up the obligatory plus 35 SOG against with 38... - bogiedoc
Slow teams outhit the opposition because they are always chasing the play in today’s NHL!! |
|
|
|
i still think Kane and Toews need to be split - their games are just not compatible |

When the Hawks were fast and possessed the puck they were criticized for not hitting. No matter what they do it's wrong. |

I would respectfully disagree.
Toews has his best season last year and I like the idea of having solid duos on each line in the top 9:
?? - Toews - Kane
DeBrincat - Strome - ??
Saad - ?? - Kubalik
I have to admit, I am a bit conflicted with Saad. I wouldn't mind seeing him with Toews and Kane. |

This needs to happen Thurs
Nylander-Toews-Kane
Debrincat-Strome-Perlini
Saad-Shaw-Kubilak
Caggulia-Kampf-Carpenter
If Dach is ready
Nylander-Toews-Kane
Debrincat-Strome-Kubilak
Saad-Dach-Shaw
Caggulia-Kampf-Carpenter
If Nylander slacks..then put Perlini in the lineup. Or Saarela, or Sikura...
Smith should be waived. Versteeg is a better option - PatShart
I’d move Kubliak to the cat Strome line with or without Dach |
