Seabs or Toews need to grab Gilbert and settle him down. He looks way too nervous

Like this Third Line quite a bit. Maata/Seabs totally boring, which means solid work.

13 shots against in the 1st? JC's system is a failure.

I know FOs aren’t supposed to be overrated - but the Hawks have to be better than 6-16=27% - Kampf 0for6.

I'm sure they will. Also this is where Jeremy Colliton will show his skills. He's going to chat to him on the bench in the room.

Very rocky by the Hawks that period but played a little better near the end of that period.

Looked a bit sloppy getting out of their own zone. The speed through the neutral zone in on the attack was really solid. Would like to see more sustained pressure. Looking forward to seeing their speed in the 2nd.

Yeah, i do too. Just imagine it with Dach, although Kampf had that nice play near the end.

They had an ok period. They weren't holding onto the puck very well it seemed, but seems like all the new guys were playing kind of tentative/nervous, so maybe that is why. Hopefully they can become more comfortable as the game goes on.

Looking for more from the top-6 - only 6 SOG, 3 on net (yes, including the goal).

Good period for Kubalik, Maatta did ok, Nylander had a couple of nice plays, 3rd and 4th lines did well.

They matter. Opening shift Hawks lose the draw and chase the puck for the first 35-40 seconds.

Hawks win that draw they don't start the game chasing the puck.

It happens. He's a kid, it was just a fluky thing. Glad JC stuck with him instead of moth balling him. He is the exact type of D we need to groom to go along with our young offensive fast D men coming up the pipeline.

He settled down. Every player in the league turns it over. Give TK a little credit. He made the read and stole the pass out of the air. Yes, Gilbert could have played it better but it was a nice play to make it hurt.

Then they lose the puck after a few seconds, then spend 30-40 seconds chasing.

If we are going to rely on kids, which we will, we gotta accept growing pains. Gilbert made a mistake. Big deal, see how he responds. If he's still flopping it in 2 months then we get concerned. He has ALL the tools to be an exceptional 5th D-man, who can play sturdy stay at home defense. I think he'll be a great part of this team going forward, even if he does go back to Rockford when CDH is activated.

Oh i know, just pointing out, like last year it's 2 dmen who really have no NHL experience and it's 1-0. System can't do much about that
