It doesn't seem like it'll get any better till half that D is replaced with new faces. Because what they have is not working. Or Nesrradine's system is just that bad.

Offense they are going for looks very much like they are trying to score in transition only. Not a lot of zone pressure at all. And the defensive system looks non-existent.

Are Mueller and Severson even playing at this point? They just stand there and get trashed every shift.

This is brutal. You have to look at the coaching staff when a team is completely unable to maintain composure.

It's 2 games in. I've seen some bad years. This is bad a start to the year I ever seen. Anything that could go wrong does.

If Hughes was 28 playing like this I wouldn't want him on my team. But he's 18 and learning the concept of defense and playing against men. Welcome to the NHL.

Meanwhile, the defense of NHL players is ABYSMAL.

JUST ONCE.. if a forward is in the middle of the ice playing with the puck.. and there are THREE Devils around him.. SOMEONE just TAKE THE BODY. Wait, that happens in hockey? It's allowed? YES. Take the body and then the puck.. because obviously standing around "in shooting and passing lanes" only goes so far when the opposition CONTINUES to connect on passes and get shots through to the goalie.

Hughes gets a pass for being 18, Boqvist and Bratt for being young, Gusev for learning what the NHL is.. (so 25% of the forwards get a pass..), but this team just doesn't look prepared or structurally sound. Severson needs to wake up. Maybe having a 1-2 weak links on 2 of the 4 lines is doing them in. Every time the puck isn't going forward, Hughes is absolutely lost. Just watch him skate all over the ice, while the play is being executed and cashed in by the Sabres. It's really something to see. Hughes should NEVER be on the ice the same time as our bottom pair. NEVER. Yet again they get hemmed in their own zone and get scored on.

It's game 2 and I'm venting frustration.

If it's game 10.. game 20 and the team as a whole still looks like this? I mean who do you point the finger at? Nasreddine is freaking terrible. So tired of this defense that rarely steps up when there's an opportunity to. No.. keep backing off and allowing dangerous shots. stupid. That's on the coaching, not the players.

In my 20 team non-keeper league.. I could've drafted Nylander, McAvoy, Skinner, Trouba, B. Tkachuk, Weber, Hischier, Barzal, Horvat, Ellis, Yandle, Granlund, Doughty, Dadonov, Makar, Kopitar, Duchene, Domi, over Hughes.

The homer glasses were strong. He looked great in preseason!!

Probably will, but we should be able to get a good return at the deadline for him if it ends up getting to that point. Lots and lots of season to go though. We started out 4-0 and looked like world beaters last year, look how that turned out lol
