Little back reading, but I'll say it again.
DPR does things the other two don't/won't do. If he had even a little more offensive touch, I can get behind that line - SDSabre
I feel like Kruegs is looking for a power forward to drive some physical play. It's the old grinder/scorer/playmaker combo. But he doesn't have one so he has decided to try sobotka out for the role.
The closest thing the sabres have to a guy for that role is Cozens. |

Right. This was my feelings. A few upgrades here and there. Joker, Johansson, having Olofsson up from the A. I mean, at this point, that’s about it right? The rest of the guys in the lineup are the same as last year. Gilmore is here, but he hasn’t played in a regular season game yet so I’m not counting him. - HonkFortheGoose

Eichel and Dahlin both credited with assists after the game on Olofsson's 2nd goal. 3 points for Jack and Dahlin.
Are we going to bash Dahlin for getting 2 secondary assists on the PP, or nah? |

Positioning, passing and patience.
All much improved this season. The cross ice passes are tape to tape. The quick decision making has been so good.
Reinhart certainly doesn’t look slow out there. He easily won an even race for his breakaway goal. Not against Subban, but the other defenseman(No. 9 I think), they both had even jumps and started from the same depth. Imo you could argue he’s been our best player these first two games. His work in front of the net is so good too.
Still not a fan of Sobotka on the second line. He works hard and had a good game. He just doesn’t have the skill necessary to merit that role imo.
Our PP could be the best in the league this year and for years to come. Dahlin, Eichel, Reinhart, Skinner, so much skill, great passers and high hockey iqs, and young. They are going to make Olofsson a very rich man.
Most fun I’ve had at a game since the Lindy Ruff years. I have a lot of hope for this season. I think we have a chance for a top 4 seed in this years playoffs. NJ isn’t a bad team, they were projected to be a strong team this year. It sounds like Pitts had a good game tonight too. I don’t think this is a fluke, I think we are legitimately a top tier team.
I will see myself out as I am sure I am about to be trolled and called a troll and claimed to be a troll in a fake account and all that. Too bad the atmosphere is what it is on these boards. Imo it keeps people from joining in to actually discuss hockey. |

Me too. But that’s why I just don’t even know what the hell is happening. Is it possible that Housley was really that clueless?
And if it really was that bad, why didn’t Botts pull the plug on him during the season? It’s just insane to me that even for just a few games that they would be capable of this.
During the winning streak last year they were getting lucky. The analytics said they weren’t really doing well, they just happened to get some good bounces. Yes, they’re definitely still getting some bounces now, but the analytics couldn’t possibly be more opposite. (And I’m not even big into them, but at some point it can’t just be a coincidence) - HonkFortheGoose
To the bolded, we're all so very used to losing that it feels almost impossible to understand how these two games have taken place, as in: are they real?
It's been a remarkable 2 game start. |

We are all so conditioned to poor play and constant losses that it can seem like this is a mirage.
It's very X-Files: we want to believe, but after last year, it may take until they officially have a playoff spot locked up before some of us do. |

No, but they do have somewhat of a point, not a great one, but a point nonetheless. Hasek isn't even the team leader in wins. Ryan Miller is, by 50. |

And my brother in laws little sister scheduled her wedding during this game. The lack of awareness and general selfishness is unreal, she doesn’t get it.
By the way, now that Risto is a plus one, are we going to keep him?

My question is, do the players feel the change in the atmosphere of the arena. I know only one game this year, two this year. But from all accounts the place was rocking.
If risto asked to be moved over the summer, but this play continues and he continues to grow as a player, wouldn’t he want to finally be part of what he’s worked so hard for over years of inept coaching, gm-ING and rebuilding.
Does winning really cure everything, or at least most?
Yes, the logistics could be interesting once d men get healthy but I think that’s easy to deal with... |

Lot's of quotes in the paper this morning from players regarding the atmosphere last night. They definitely felt it. McCabe said he had goosebumps at times because the energy in the arena was that intense.
I love how after scoring goals (Reinhart, Eichel), the players went to the glass and engaged with the fans. Great to see that stuff.

I tried very, very hard to inject cautious optimism. This team will lose games, but if they play this brand of hockey almost every night, there's literally no way they can't fight for a playoff spot. - TheSabresTaco
There was no one, not one poster who saw and posted this type of play was forthcoming, not you, not anyone.
For 7 years I heard here variations of this team could be decent, only to see the same crap game in and game out under 3 coaches.
What we have seen through two games so far this season is nothing short of a revelation, a near miracle.
I don't think I told you so is in order. |
