and?

He's on Dallas, in the Western Conference what does he have to do with Nylander?

- Lucas.Neilson

You probably missed the discussion last week where i said hintz > nylander.

(After last season i suggested leafs should try to trade with dallas, a deal involving hintz + faksa for kadri + johnsson).

I'm fired up to watch this game for sure. Gonna be a great game.

Curious does Babs match against ROR ?? and if so JT or AM .... I forgot how he did it when ROR was in Buf.

Gonna be real interesting to see if Leafs 2nd pair can handle those Blues 2nd and 3rd lines. Barrie knowing Blues from Col time should help..

Better keep your heads on a swivel tonight boys lest you get trucked by Colton ... both
AM and MM took pretty big shots against Mtl.

Comparing results after 3 games is kinda silly though.

Is Zibanejad the best player in the NHL?

I can't recall a goal where Hutchinson looked bad.
- Scabeh

leafs defense got use to watching andersen make 2nd and 3rd saves on rebounds.

hutch is doomed if he can't make a save off a rebound.

Can we just blame Kapanen? It's not all on Hutchinson, because our not so dirty defense couldn't defend.
- PatC80

The stupid stick incident aside, Kapanen has not been playing well. One person isn't going to drag a team down on their own, but I often feel that you see how Hyman added value to the first line.

I have this theory (that is unsubstantiated - I was going to try and look for it) that Hyman was really good at playing a support role - he'd move into empty pockets that had no offensive value to accept a pass, redistribute the puck, and shift the D. They could do this until an opportunity opened up. It created more room for Marner and Tavares.

Kapanen for all of his straight line speed, doesn't move into those areas in the offensive zone - making many zone entries effectively a 4 on 5 because Kap is all but nullified by his position.

I honestly think that a guy like Mikheyev might add a lot to that line because he is smart without the puck. He takes on a defensive posture when needed. He moves into soft spots when needed. He can cycle the puck. He is lacking Hyman's speed, but otherwise he's probably a better fit.

A top 5, 5v5 scoring team last years weak offence. let the hate flow!

leafs are an awesome team! but the habs arent garbage, from what i saw, leafs capitalized on a few rookies mistakes and a leathal pp to get the 4-1 lead. but out shot 24+ shots vs 11 in the last period and a half? the habs are garbage?

that was an exciting game!!

I think we both know he is. I also find it sad that someone who's name is basically, "The Banana Head" is now the best player in hockey.

Not sure how babs will match up tonight, but leafs got smoked both games last year against blues last year. I think they played both games when they were the worst team in standings too.

Oh I agree. He did good in the playoffs and I expect him to do well.

Is he better than Nylander though? I think that's a stretch. Or at least very premature to claim.

No one should call the Habs garbage. They're fast, they're skilled. They don't have a lot of elite finish, but they make plays, and as much as I am afraid that I have to hate them, I can appreciate the way they play.

I watched them against Carolina (a team that outshot Tampa 44-13, let's not forget), and while they were outplayed, it wasn't soul crushing like 44-13 is.

totally agree! A humble fan here saying that i am happy with how the habs competed against 2 very very very good teams.

Personally, i see the habs and Carolina being very much similar and will be sitting around the same place come the end of the season. Price is the better goalie, but Mrazek is so good, and that top 4 d of Carolina is so sick. the top 9 FWDS between the habs and canes are somewhat the same, but the 4th line, i think the habs have one of the best rotation of guys in the league for the bottom 3 positions.

how so? If we use last years stats they are piratically the same in team stats. habs were a better 5v5 team though. Their rosters havent changed much. How are the canes leagues ahead of them?

Carolina has a full season of Neiderreiter, Gardiner and Haula. Edmundsson instead of Faulk. No Justin Williams, but added Ryan Dzingle...they've changed quite a bit. Also James Reimer and no McBakcup

habs were better 5v5 because the canes goalies suck ass and the habs have price.

Canes are similar to the Habs. Both fast teams who play hard.

But way more talent up front, better defense and mediocre goaltending.

Habs might have one of the best bottom 6 in the league... maybe.... I guess we'll take it.

fair, i guess we will have to wait and see! comparables are still such that i think they are over all, roughly the same style team and will finish around the same place.
