hell score 65 this year and then buy a very fast car; hell try to moon a pretty lady while driving and well the rest of the "heatley story" is history. people should stay out of the passenger seat.

i think it's going to take Tampa a long time to get going this year and that will open up the division a bit.

leafs were the best 5v5 scoring team in the league and top 5 pp team in the league last year, correct? only finished 2-4 points above the habs? If they arent given the same PP time or if teams are more disciplined against them, can we not deduce the same thing as the price factor? Anderson has been facing more shots then any of his full time partners. I think last year or year b4 it was 700 more shots then the next goalie. If Anderson doesn't play lights out and the amount of PP's are less, do the leafs make the playoffs?

I dunno, i find those statements hard to swallow. Price show 8 years ago, no doubt but the habs were also one of the best scoring teams and during those years had the some of the best pp an pk.. The year of the conference final loss to kreiders kick to the knee. Anyways, those days are gone and the "supposed" insiders are to lazy to say anything new,.

virtually impossible for Leafs to be getting even less powerplays opportunities than last season - last in league with 211 opportunities.
go ahead and speculate, but please come up with a credible scenario.

There are a few things to note with this: (1) They didn't have a top PP; this year's should be better; (2) They received the fewest PP opportunities out of anyone last year, so hopefully this year they have better luck; (3) They have had substantial change in the team, which hopefully yields better results; (4) The young elite core should be one more year developed, and still progressing towards their ceilings.

Anything can happen from injuries to personal problems to the team not meshing due to the amount of overhaul. Who knows? But just on paper the Leafs should build upwards from last year.

The Habs are in an awkward position. They're a tough team to objectively call. I don't know if they really got any better. You get some natural progression and development from guys reaching their peak (Gallagher, or progressing like Domi or Drouin), but you also have guys on the wrong side of 30 who are probably starting a slow decline - like Weber or Petry.

I'm being sincere - I like the way the play, it's fast, it's exciting, they have guys who can really pull it off (like Gallagher and Tatar and Domi) - and so far in the two games I've seen them play, they have looked both sustainably great and sustainably terrible in the same games.

The Habs suck in defensive coverage (mostly small forwards that keep losing battles) but they are very aggressive on the forecheck and force a lot of turn overs. Exciting but not always a winning solution....and very hard to sustain over a long period of time.

i like this and the way you put it down. I think the excitement for the team is whats on the way and what they were able to do with what they had last year. Everyone had the habs in the basement of the standings.

I was more commenting on the narrative that without price the habs are not a playoff team. i think that can be said about alot of teams. Anderson kept the leafs in how many games last year? Cant always win a 6-5 game. lastly, the habs having 30th worst PP, was also probably the mitigating factor to them not making the playoffs. it wasnt the price show and we lost to many 3-2 game with Niemi as backup going 0-5 on the pp.

I love watching the leafs PP. Its so smooth. Babcock is once again coaching a stacked team, giving him some very inflated cred. he wouldnt be my choice, i think even if it was dallas eakins behind the bench, this would be a fun team to watch!
