So no team wanted to snag him off waivers, but several teams are interested in trading for him? Do you proofread your posts?
- RobShouts

If a team claimed him on waivers I believe that would have to place him on their roster. By allowing him a clear a would be team can now place him wherever they see fit without having to place him on waivers.

Yeah that's what people don't understand about waivers

Bob Mckenzie talked about this the other day.

If you claim him you add another contract to your 50 limit, and don't have one going out, it is tough for ones cap. Players like Ho-Sang are worth more once they clear waivers although very marginally.

The trouble with Ho Sang? Having seen it first hand here is Niagara, he is an entitled brat. His parents are a contributing factor to the dark cloud over this kid. They are very outspoken and involved in the management of their kid, and aren't afraid to play the race card when things aren't going his way. All this work, a life time of pumping his tires and he is a leppar....who would trade for him when they could have had him for free? A lifetime of brainwashing cannot be undone with a second chance. He will be a problem everywhere he goes.

He also would've had to clear waivers a second time if the team that claimed him wanted to send him to the AHL, not to mention he was waived right around the time that a lot of teams hadn't finalized their rosters yet. I think it was more surprising that nobody claimed Sprong, honestly. If he's traded a team could assign him directly to their AHL affiliate.

My guess is that Lou isn't going to dump him for a 6th round pick and risk having some bad optics if he pans out elsewhere. He said he'd try to find somewhere to trade Josh, but if that didn't work that he expected him to report to Bridgeport. My guess is that he can't work anything out, tells Ho Sang to go to the Bridgeport and he jumps ship and goes to Europe to play.

That first part isn't true, I believe. He already cleared waivers so he wouldn't have to clear waivers again unless he plays in at least 10 NHL games.

Yep.

If he's claimed on waivers, then to assign him to the AHL he would have to pass through waivers.

In this second round of waivers, his original team, in this case the Islanders, would have first dibs on him and, if they were to claim him, he would not have to be put on waivers again to be sent down.

This happened with Zach Boychuk when he went from Canes to the Penguins to the Predators and back to Carolina.

Right, but wrong.

You have the rule right, but my point was that he wasn't claimed off of waivers because (picking a random team here) if, say, Edmonton claimed him when the Isles waived him....he would've had to then clear waivers to go to Bakersfield....because he never actually cleared in the first place.

So now that he has cleared waivers....the Islanders can trade him somewhere and that new team can assign him to their AHL affiliate without requiring waivers.

My answer was less wordy cause I hate explaining poop to people.

You and BINGO did a nice job but I doubt he gets it.

I don't mind explaining things to people who aren't bumholes. Had he called me an idiot and told me I was wrong I would've probably mocked him quite a bit

I'd give HO-Sang a shot in Boston. The Bruins have a couple 1st Rd picks on their own that's haven't panned out.. so how about a guy like Zorbil and a pick for HO-Sang.

Fair thought, but Isles are already bursting at the seams with defenseman on the team and in Bridgeport. Maybe Senyshyn?

His reputation is definitely overblown, but there he's done plenty more than just missing a meeting once in juniors that contribute to the general view of him. It's not totally unwarranted, but yeah people make a much bigger deal of his attitude than they should.

I'm not saying there's not some stuff wrong with him and that he's not a bizarre human....but people act like he caught got snorting lines off a hooker's ass in the GM's office during a game

Wouldn't something like that INCREASE his trade value?

Some players sulk when they're scratched, that's being proactive. Shows dedication and maturity.
