*Edit Rangers went to Europe in 11-12 with Torts when we went to the ECF. We just opened with a really long road trip with AV in 13-14 - 2sticks1puck
yep I remember. MSG was still finishing up renovations IIRC.

If you have any momentum, those extra games can actually be a good thing. I'd rather play most of my games when everything is clicking, then when the team is trying to figure everything out. Towards the end of the year, those games in hand can be a saving grace. - 2sticks1puck
While the Flyers are a young team, it certainly doesn't help to have so many games right before the playoffs (assuming we get in).
I will say, that if for once we can put a season together that doesn't include a 10 game losing streak and we are safely in a playoff spot by that time, I am sure AV can manage the work load (less practices etc). The issue becomes when we have to expend all of our energy just to barely make it in, injuries happen and the team is spent. |

Bunnaman needs to a strong game tonight or he could get replaced by another prospect forward for the road trip.
I'd rather have Rubtsov playing 4C than Bunnaman playing 4LW. |

That is one of the benefits, I'll admit, but overall I think it's a detriment. The games have to be made up later in the year, and our March April sched is insane. - Hextall271
every teams March and April is insane, i just checked two and they are just as bad as ours, Tampa and NYI. |

Bill, great job and thank you for all your hard work.
I noticed Coots on pp1 today and thought he was on pp2 against the Hawks. Is there a change or did I see something incorrectly. |

I actually think Raffl acquitted himself quite nicely as 4C, but I could see the argument for more offensive flexibility and upside of Rubstov over the size benefit of Bunny |

They did say it would be a constant rotation with lehigh. It has only been one game, Bunnaman didn't look bad last game. Carsen was flying when he was on the ice. Want to make sure he limits his shifts, but i like what he brought |

I'd argue the opposite. Being a young team, physically they can handle it, plus you got the benefit of extra practice time in between games early in the season when the younger players would need it to get up the speed.
I think it was the Rangers board where I had said hockey fans forget how short preseason camps really are. In the NFL you get 6 weeks before the regular season to get up the speed and gel as a team. In hockey you get what, 2 weeks? If I was the Flyers I'd almost view this downtime as a psuedo extended camp. You have to be ready to play games for sure, but this is bonus time for getting all of your ducks in a row. |

It's possible and I hope you're right that the schedule ends up being an non issue. I am sure the team and AV are not focusing on it because it is what it is. In years past I don't believe it has done us any favours. If we take care of business in the first few months and don't have to play catch up at the end it may work fine. |

Carsen had zero patience with the puck in the Dzone, he would get it on the wall and immediately glass and out or high flip. We need to be maintaining possession, not giving it away. JVR is not going to be successful with those two, he needs more skill on his line. |

double edge really. Team gets hot at right time then has big gaps at the end of the year...can fizzle. get hot and can roll right into playoffs. Breaks can be good and can be bad. Benefits a banged up team, hinders a hot team..imo |

There were two shifts i remember he overstayed....but he also kept it alive with an active stick and forechecked well to maintain pressure. he did his job as a 4th liner with 11 minutes played |

First NHL game for him also and he was probably focused on not taking any risks or doing anything wrong before anything else.
Im a fan of giving young players 10 games before you really see the outline of what they could bring. |

4th line? Didn't he play with Laughts and JVR? Bottom line is we can't have a guy playing hot potato with a $7M winger on his line. |

I agree with everything you say but I've also seen where a team who has momentum and is coming into the playoffs on a high note is able to make a run at it.

Well, St Louis did it last year so maybe it works. Last year we were so far behind we ran out of gas at the end. |

It's going to be painful to see Simmonds in a NJ Devils sweater. - MJL
It's pretty bizarre.
Totally thrilled not to be playing against him.
The defense is a mess on our team but Schneider has been very good in net. If he's healthy he should be solid. But with Devils v Flyers you never know what to expect. |
