Bro. You only see positives lol. - j.boyd919
Hahaha Thats not true at all...in my post you responded to I said "some positives". I said earlier that Murray was crap. I bash JJ a lot. I talk poorly of some of JR moves. I think I was the first person here in the summer to say I wouldn't be surprised if they missed the playoffs this year.
I'm a realist...but a hopeful one. |

I don't hate the guy. I don't love him either. I personally don't understand some of you that think he walks on water. He's a good offensive-defenseman, but he's frequently out of position and often leaving Dumolin out to dry. If you don't see that, I cannot help you.
The only hate that I have is for Jack Johnson. Christ, I'd rather have Ian Moran or Rico Fata back on this team, over him. - simethos
When you say he’s out of position frequently... I highly doubt he’s out of position in a higher capacity than most no. 1 Dmen. Watching Tampa play down here in Florida... the fan base female doges and moans about Hedman being out of position “all the time.” The truth is... these guys aren’t out of position anymore than the next guy. If you were to watch a bunch of no. 1 defensemen on other teams, you’ll see that they’re all “out of position frequently.”

The good news about shopping big G is that there will be takers. I’m not down for just getting rid of him though. I say He and Morino would be a fine 3rd pairing. |

When your big plan during GM interviews is “wait until training camp and hope elc players pan out”. It probably disqualifies you from the discussion |

i dont get it. it appears that he has zero forward thinking. the AHL team is depleted, the draft picks are (as usual) being traded away and there are at least 6 players who didnt play 80 games in a pens uniform. the mistakes are compounding so much at this time, its hard to over look. the 1st for reaves for reaves to be a throw in fro cap purposes to get brassard? that worked out well.
freeing up Hags cap space to take gubrandson's on?? what was the point of that? oh right "push back". The $ and term for JJ are amazing (and not in a good way).
Then sully get a 4 year extension? why did they not wait until december to see how it goes? This is the year the pens playoff streak ends. i am guessing they will blame it on anything other than the front office. |

You lose almost 60, potentially 70, goals per season even in Malkin and Honqvist (RW blames age in only one case, of course, because he is a victim of every self-serving heuristic in the book). Take out Bjugstad, and you've lost 1/3 of your top-nine, and they're not the kind of players you can pay $3 mil. Bryan Rust is out too, so that's 4/9. GMJR is so silly for allowing JJ to let all this happen.
Guds looked really bad last night. As advertised, he can take someone off of the puck, but he's not great at doing something effective with it from that point. But even when he had good games, RW was just waiting for him to have some bad ones so he can squeal because GMJR should have known that Tanner Pearson, who scored almost 20 on LA, couldn't increase that output coming to PIT. Just like he should've predicted Brassard was going to bomb; nobody fancied him as a 3C.
Letang was inept, again, but that's what happens when you are the guy that carries the mail and gets some runoff goals and assists from 87 & 71. Criticism? Naw - here we're only the-opposite-of-objective homers. In fact, Sid was the only player (maybe Jake, Jared, and Marino had decent games) that stood out as exemplary last night. Oh! And Tanev has been heck of a hockey player so far. He's relentless, very fast, and he's always back on D. I think he would've done great things for 71 this year, but it will be Tanev, GMJR, & HCMS's fault that that might not happen. |

Rutherford needs to go. All he has done since Bots left is cost us draftpicks and money bringing in mostly useless plugs that he turns around and ships out a year later.
Hes a bumbling mess and has a huge ego that causes him to say dumb things like "I know why he didnt play last year and it has nothing to do with his on ice performance". Meanwhile hes shopping said player a year later for being a bum. How clueless can you be? |

I definitely don’t shy from my criticism of JR but when you’re down this many key players the best GMs in hockey would have a hard time navigating this situation.
Geno, Bjugstad, Rust and now Horn and possibly Chucky? No amount of planning prepares for that poop. |

Change is coming. I just don’t see this team being competitive even before the injuries. The big question is how long Mario can put up with this mess. |

This is definitely true. I'd be more optimistic if I saw a bit of style change last night. I think they locked it down better in the second half of the game, but there needs to be a systemic shift to get through this.
I literally saw Guddy and JJ pinch multiple times each last night and the Jets barely missed taking advantage of it. I mean...that will not work. Just like it didn't work when Maatta and others repeatedly pinched last season.
That's Sully system however......regardless if his team is capable of playing it. Gotta go conservative if they're going to get through this. |

Oh I agree, its a hard thing to overcome. But our losses wouldnt be nearly as bad if JR had a clue. He has literally had to undo half of his trades by giving away assets to get rid of horrible contracts he gave out. The guy has been a mess since he was allowed to drive the team solo.
My TL;DR take on it is this - we won two cups based on speed and skill. JRs takeaway from that was "I know we won two cups that way but now we need more grit and toughness on our roster, even if the guys couldnt hit the broadside of a barn with their shot". Helen Keller could see the problem with his plan from the get go. |

I think so too...and they did that last March when they were down 3 of the top 4 D and a few top 6 forwards...ended up going 10-3-3 that month. |
