The Guds situation would have been much easier to digest if they didn’t have JJ. - Rinosaur

Exactly. There's a lot of hindsight is 20/20 "I told you so" going on here. Just about every GM is a mixed bag of good and bad, some of which is unforeseen, as in the case of Brassard. Who knew he was going to drop off a cliff? I'd be willing to bet RW praised it at the time, just like most of us did.
At least JR's bad usually involves lower-tier players, but yes, the cumulative effect of losing assets and cap space adds up over time.
I'll also add that putting Fleury and a 2nd round pick on the "out" side of the ledger is also unfair, given that it was due to the expansion draft and almost all of us agreed that Murray was the cheaper, younger, and potentially better goalie. JR's hands were kind of tied on that one. - Hockey66
I agree. |

No, just going to work through all the forwards and keep carrying extra D. |

Let me emphasize because I know what's coming...
I'm not saying I don't think JR has poorly mismanaged this team, but I'm saying that given the level of injury bug right now there's only so much any team could do to navigate these kind of losses to your roster. - Rinosaur
No, we must use everything as a reason to say why JJ and Gudbranson are killing the team! If only we could use that extra 7M on forwards and play Riikola and Marino as our bottom pair, that would allow us to make up for the over 22M missing in forwards! (27M now). |

In 50 minutes of ice time they have a 26-15 scoring chance advantage and a 10-4 high danger advantage. They have a -1 goal differential. This ain’t the hill to die in.
Petterson-Schultz have been getting caved in. 12-22 in SC and 6-12 in HD. -2 goal differential with 0 GF.
It’s only 3 games but Letang-Dumo have been and will be fine. - j.boyd919
Here's one High Danger Chances Against:
Letang 4
JJ 4
Dumoulin 5
Gudbranson 6
Schultz 15
Pettersson 16
That's just one stat, the rest back up the 2nd pair are the ones getting killed. That pair might not work if they aren't playing behind a line that can keep it in the offensive zone.
While people look at Letang, perhaps Schultz is the offensive defenseman who hurts them? |

Letang Pettersson Schultz Dumo pairings? Maybe Dumo can stabilize a bit?

I would absolutely try that. Dumo is a huge zero on offense so you're not taking away from the top pairing in that regard. |

Ehhh, maybe. But I think I'd rather stick with Dumo Tanger getting big minutes. Could be worth a try I guess |

I’d love to see Sids passes going to someone with a chance at scoring. |

I’ve been thinking about that play lately since we no longer have a right handed guy on the wall. Why not try to set that play up with Galchenyuk or Guentzel finishing? |

But Petts still elevated all of his teammates other than Letang last season, right? |
