Kunitz was awesome and a great trade. Whitney sucked for the remainder of his career. - sammy87[/img]
He only played 1 full season on the ducks then went to the black hole that was Edmonton. |

He put up 39 points the year after Pittsburgh traded him and followed it up with years of 27 in 35 and 20 in 51. That’s solid top 4 production. |

Yeah because no solid player ever gets traded for a lesser return... (frank), you’re dense. |

When the Ducks traded for Whitney that was the point where they were like “Ok.. let’s get a new scout and start drafting D men like crazy” |

Two puck moving guys on a pairing works well I the line they're playing with maintains possession.
What we hadn't seen last year with Pettersson is how he plays without someone who defends the crease. Hasn't been pretty.
I don't like the mix of players there for certain. |

Letang Pettersson Schultz Dumo pairings? Maybe Dumo can stabilize a bit? - Thorny87
It might. The top line might be a little more vulnerable, but they'd have the puck so much it could balance out. And Dumoulin is about as solid as we have in his own end. |

Not sure how much stock we should be putting in the stats for only a 3 game sample size with 5 of the top 9 missing hahah what a sh!t show..5 of the top 9...3 games in. - MattStrat
True, but when 2 defensemen have 3 to 4 times the number of high danger chances against it's an alarming trend.
Really just wanted to point out the problem hasn't been Letang giving up a ton of glorious chances as he sometimes does.
It also hasn't been JJ-Gudbranson sinking them:. They don't create much offense (especially with the bottom 6 we're icing), but they've only given up 2 high danger chances in 2 games together. It's about the best you can expect.
BTW, Sall sample, but Gudbranson as played half his shifts with JJ. He as a 60% corsi without and 45% with, so nothing is proving to me he's turned ack into a pumpkin. 1st game aside, he's defended well which is how he had good stats last year. He's not going to provide offense, but can defend and get the puck back. |

Been saying this board has been overrating him for quite some time now lol - j.boyd919
You and me both. Was hoping a contract year might have him play like he did last Cup run, but that guy might not exist. |

But Petts still elevated all of his teammates other than Letang last season, right? - WSCTeton17
Yes he did. He might be now really, he's just not playing with anyone else who drives play, or as defensively responsible players as he was last year. |

Go after Zucker and try to send JJ or Gudbranson on the deal alongside the vanilla (so far) Kahun. |

Apparently it was just to get cap compliant with the call up yesterday, since it wasn't an emergency call up it counts.
And as much as I would love that, I don't think any trade we make will have salary coming back, unless it is half of what we ship out. |

I believe we'll get some space with players like Malkin and Galchenyuk on the LTIR. This helps a bit. Fact is we need to shed some salary. |

I gotta be honest, I don't want them to trade Guddy at this point. I think they're fuking up by not having Marino play games in the AHL. Wouldn't it be much easier to evaluate him playing 20 minutes down there than getting an odd game up here with spot shifts? Marino was great in the preseason, but I remember another player who looked great in the preseason (DP) and he sucked when the real games started. Let him develop. Let him get big minutes. Putting Marino behind this MASH group of forwards has disaster written all over it.
Some of these decisions make very little sense to me. I'm trying to stay in the Sully/JR camp, but they're making it tough. |
