The mentor relationship can be very meaningful. It's too bad Marleau lost a step and got capped out but I don't doubt the value of his influence. - Zezel
It’s easy to get caught up in the NHL lifestyle as a 20 year old.
I think Marleau being a “dad” influence for them is pretty incredible...and it’s not because he’s older. Hainsey and now Spezza obviously don’t offer what Marleau did.
Marleau was legitimately a 38 year old that a few 20 year olds loved to hang around the family and kids. Kept those guys out of some trouble and taught them some good things about being a pro.

And a likely Hall Of Famer, Olympian, with an Iron Man streak. Not a bad guy for them to emulate. We goof on Babs' gud pro mantra, but mentorship is real. What if the examples for those guys were Kessel or Lupul ffs.
I think its blatantly obvious that Marleau did a lot of good for those two....In a market where NHL players keep their lives very private they were very clear how important he was to them in the last two years.
I swear people think hockey players are just chess pieces sometimes, on ice is only a small percentage of their lives. - Santo_44
Who cares, he’s a nice guy and had a tough year and is gone. Roger was already on the fire Babcock after dominating STL but not getting the 2 points. I don’t mind different opinions, but stating it day after day after day is pathetic.

Hockeybuzz has been showing me the same Gap ad constantly. Probably because I've been online shopping at the Gap. I find the lady in the ad extremely alluring, to the point where I want to consumate my relationship with the ad, but I can't with all your posts right there. - Zezel

Absolutely, Babcock definitely was sleeping well knowing Matthews and Marner were having turkey dinners and playing mini sticks with Patty’s kids instead of snorting lines off of girls butt cracks on Friday nights.
I mean...I’m sure they did but like every other Friday patty gave them a family night

Spezza's been on the ice for 21 even strength shot attempts for and 2 against. That's pretty good. - Zezel
Speaking of oldies and 20 goal seasons - anyone think this will be a renaissance’s year for Neal? Outside of the first 3 games. I picked him up in fantasy just because who he can play with and the PP he is on. I can just as easily cut bait.

Man I don't know. I think Ek's being irrationally exuberant about it, but he'll probably keep getting points from the PP at least. But on the other hand, Oilers.

My thoughts exactly. My team is real solid so I’m not worried about winning the regular season. I’ll be in the playoffs. I’m looking for some value here in the early weeks and started off 1-0 and am in the lead this week. I’d be kicking myself if he keeps playing well with Draisaitl, who I have, or with the Nuge, who I also have.

Maybe more worth it to you since you have those other players. I like having duos or trios so when they score you get clusters of points.
