The hand in the faceoff circle was tough. I dunno, maybe he thought they were pushed off from the dot, or perhaps after the first couple of wacks the draw is over, and it's fair game to the puck?

Yeah exactly how I felt, Hayes wasn't a speedster trying to do too much, just great composure with the puck on his stick... err not on his hand haha.

Not that he's the exact same type of player but Primeau used to protect the puck like this with his big frame.

👍👍

I’m shocked it took the Phils this long. Kapler is a horrible manager. Honestly, they should can Klentak too.

But man oh man, have you seen him without a shirt on?

So you're saying he's more of a Jagr type than a Primeau type?

I know...it shouldn’t take that long to make decision and asking players for input seems childish. It’s not fair to anybody including Kapler to leave this question hanging for a full week. Frankly that entire staff including McPhail and Klentak should go.
- Sublime55

The reporting around Middleton asking "players" seems a bit suspect. That said If he asked Harper and more importantly Realmuto then I'm ok with it. The most important thing that could happen in the next year or so is that the sign him long term, if he wanted to have some input on the manager because of that, I see nothing wrong with asking.

If he flew to Sean Rodriguez's house to ask him...then yeah that's lame.

Hayes biggest strength is puck possession. Good passer too. Should put up 50-60. Biggest knock is he never shows up in the PO. Him and Miller were ghosts every time

Primeau was my fav flyer growing up, outside of Lindros. I just loved the way he played. I still rock his jersey when I am able to catch a live game. Hoping I'll end up on Dave Isaac's #jerseywatch one day.

Question for all: If you could go back to 2000, would you still do the Brindy for Primeau trade?

Hayes has not been the issue with the top line. Voracek has been

Voracek a right winger has been the single reason three players aren’t producing at even strength?

Obviously a tough one for me. Although I have publicly declared my love for Primeau, I could go both ways on this one. I just feel there was so much more Primeau could have done if he never suffered from post concussion syndrome. The team was not the same without him.

That whole 03/04 run doesn't happen without him, that's for sure. Not sure how much he'd have left in the tank, but maybe he could have been our Dave Andreychuk in 09/10 (he'd have been 38). But man, Brind'Amour was arguably the second hardest-working Flyers of all time after Clarke...maybe Poulin.

No, we'd just complain that we don't have Wayne Simmonds to punch the stupid out of him.

Regarding d Corp being improved over last season, one play summed it up for me. Nisky retrieved the puck at center ice and was skating alone towards his zone. There was one or two Devils in pursuit. Instead of panicking and rushing a blind pass, he calmly skated the puck away from defenders and connected on a pass and got out of trouble. Little play that went unnoticed but huge improvement over last season.

Nope. That 5OT goal was tremendous, but Brindy should have retired a Flyer.

I would do the trade.

Small bit of background, I only moved to the area (Army) around 1995 and never watched hockey before that. I was immediately swept up in the team and Lindros being a force but I never developed the affinity for Brindamore. In retrospect I can see why he was loved here but Primeau became one of my favorites, especially in the vacuum created by Lindros's brains getting so scrambled.

I was livid when they made that trade and it was years before I ever warmed up to Keith Primeau. If Brind'Amour had finished his career with the Flyers, he'd probably have been my favorite Flyers of all time. So.. no. I wouldnt make that trade.
