Are you in favor of dropping Nylander from the lineup or not? In the first sentence, you seem to be questioning the move, and in the last paragraph, you outlined all the reasons why he should be benched. - Chunk
Not in favor of dropping him yet. He needs at least 15 games or so. I outlined issues I see with his play so far. The same could be said for most of the team in the D-zone though. He looks like a rookie out there who thinks too much.
Jerking him around the lineup isn't going to help. He also was benched for a good part of the 3rd after it looked like his guy went to the net and scored.
But idk how this system works so who knows if he was supposed to follow his guy or if Kampf, the center on the line was supposed to pick the winger up as he went to the net.

Told you guys I was ready for a full on rebuild.
Please launch these bums into the sun. Gus, Special K, Smith and Carpenter.
Its hurts my heart watching Smith and Carpenter try to handle the puck. They have rendered Caligula useless. Gus and Special K being on the ice together other than at practice is an affront to every hockey fan except TG. - Elbows15
Kings are trying it but are so far unsuccessful as no one wants their overpriced poop (Quick Kovalchuk, Brown, Carter).

Interesting lines at practice.
Colliton is looking for answers and to me looks like he's trying to put a spark plug on each line.
Dach starting at wing (whenever he's ready) could make sense. They are really taking the cautious approach with 77. |

Looking at the lineups that JC has come up with doesn't leave any confidence in his ability to actually think through his decisions.
Who gets fired first Stan or JC ? |

You are spot on that Seabrook and Maata- who have looked steady - basically are not playing the chase game JC wants which makes them look like the best pair. And that's why Keith is running around so much. Between having Gus in his wing, trying to chase/pressure the puck all over the boards - while trying to actually play REAL defense, wont help anyone.
I do think some people have the same mentality as JC. "Well if Keith, Toews, Crawford or Kane simply play better we would win this game" - when their HC is not putting them in positions to succeed. In fact, hes hindering it and the players are getting the blame - PatShart
Pat playing with Gus would make anyone crazy. Keith post-game just bites his lip. Agree completely that Colliton is a complete hindrance and he makes it far more difficult for the team to succeed. In post-game interviews Colliton now commonly throws the players under the bus. Who is not trying? The veterans who want success and playing time? The bubble players who just want to dress and play. What would be their motivation?

How much time has it taken Edmonton, a team with nearly as bad a defensive record as us, adapt to a new system and see some results?

Great points. Be careful though - don’t bring logic to any discussion with EbonyRaptor. |

Oh, so now you're an expert on Colliton's tenure in Sweden too. Uh huh. Any argument that doesn't throw Colliton and Stan under the bus will never make it through your hate filter. Have a nice life. - EbonyRaptor
Oh please do some analysis that doesn’t compete with pond scum for depth. I HAVE researched Colliton’s Swedish Beer League record. He was awful there. No market for him. Nobody from the Swedish Elite League wanted him or the KHL. Just StanBo. You would think that he developed his idiotic “system” somewhere. Apparently he did it with Swedish Beer League players where there was no skill. Doesn’t translate to the NHL where there is wild skill.
To think that after a full year and a full Training Camp that posters like you are suggesting the “system” is still being “implemented” is hysterical. How complicated do you think hockey is? Hockey isn’t Law, it’s not Physics. Other teams make quick turnarounds defensively. Great Coach Trotz took Islanders from last in D to first after losing Tavares.
Stop giving Colliton a pass - he has been over his head from day 1 and it is not improving. Indefensible hiring. |

Yes the question Colliton is looking for an answer to is “How did I get this job?”

I agree Nylander has a lot of skill and promise . His confidence has been shattered throughout his nhl career.
If he was the only problem then it would be fair to single him out, but this runs deeper.
Looking at preseason Chicago has had issues boiling over into the regular season.
List of excuses
Not the final line up
Dach out
Regular players waiting for the season
Missing Calvin and murphy
Oversees trip would build chemistry
Overseas trip hurt preseason in having more time
Overseas trip hurt from a scheduling standpoint
Game 2 Chicago is ready to play now
Oh it's just 2 games
Their still learning his system
The forwards arentnplaying defense
The defense isn't playing defense
Crawford is a bit rusty
Do we start to see a pattern here excuses made .
Each team goes through adversity it's the teams coach / coaching staff and teams leaders who bring the team back into focus and stop the bleeding.

Colliton on if he regrets breaking up dominant Kubalik-Kampf-Saad line last night (they were reunited in practice today):
"Well, it didn't work. We didn't win the game. You can always go down and open a different door."

Z3 is my favorite HB poster! Keep up the good work sir!
And yes, JC was under water 3 of his 4 years in Mora. He took 1st his 4th season, after his 2 best players quit their assembly line jobs and devoted 100% to hockey. |
