I wonder if there is a way to make a deal with Bogo if the Sabres eat some salary and take some back.
- GilPerreault11

They don't have the space to take any back essentially at this point. I know a lot of people were hoping they'd find a trade partner for him this summer, but it's hard to move a guy that's coming off a major hip surgery, because we can see, the time table isn't super straightforward.

I will say, I thought he actually played pretty well last year until he started having issues with the hip he's now had surgery on. Had he opted to get both surgically repaired YEARS ago, he probably could have had a much more solid career than he's had.

They have so many D if they all are healthy. They have to make a move there.
- GilPerreault11

That's a big IF. McCabe seems to be Bogo 2.0 in a lot of ways. Can't seem to stay healthy for a full season and has generally looked like dog poop when he comes back into the lineup after missing time.

Pilut struggled toward the end of the year last year, so keeping him in Rochester for this year unless needed to fill in for injuries is probably best at this point.

Even still, there's definitely still a logjam if Bogo and Montour get healthy while everyone else is. But that's a bridge you cross if/when you get to it.

Maybe he is saying this....

Bogo ($5.15m cap hit, 20% retained) - $4.12m cap (prorated for home many games are left)

for

Player X ($3m cap hit, prorated with games left)
Pick Y

I think when he comes back he's going to have to go to Rochester for a training session whatever you call it and if he plays well and handles it then maybe there could be a trade partner later in the year if the Sabres eat salary and take back a forward with salary short term.

We determined years ago that PP points don't matter. Nothing to see here......

So yesterday was bash Dahlin day for leading the NHL in points from the back end.

I see today is bash Skinner day for being on pace for 60 goals despite being saddled with Sobotka.

This is classic Buffalo. The 'problem' with the team is always Ryan Miller isn't elite enough. Vanek didn't quite get to 40. McGahee has a bad attitude. Eric Moulds uses his body to catch the ball. Ryan OReilly has no heart. Reinhart is a bust.

This city always blames the best player for not being quite as good as another team's best player, instead of being willing to acknowledge that the problem isn't the type of good player you have, the problem is you don't have enough of them.

This, always. I have friends who will constantly bring up a bad stat about a player who is playing well. It's Buffalo. There's always something to complain about.

this is one of the best posts, if not the best post of the year.... Well done. Apparently your supposed to be an all star defensive man at age 19 in the NHL and along with that never make a mistake. The post above explains everything that has been wrong with Buffalo sports fans for a very long time.

While I would agree that it would make sense to send him there, he has to agree to it. I don't know that we've ever heard of a guy saying no, but I guess it's possible that it happens and we don't hear about it.

In any event, he can go for 14 days if he does. If they could move him for a forward that would be great, but considering that he had a setback before the year even started I'm not expecting him back any time soon. My guess would be we shouldn't worry too much about him until closer to the end of the calendar year.

Larsson's xGF this year is so sky high that he is almost guaranteed to get upwards of 5 goals

"Back in the day, Bobby Orr was a teenaged defenseman in the NHL. So were Paul Coffey, Phil Housley, Larry Murphy, Raymond Bourque and (for a very short time) Denis Potvin. All of them were stars who ended up in the Hall of Fame. None of them had seven points in their team’s first four games of the season while they were teenagers.
Do you know who does, though? 19-year-old Rasmus Dahlin. "

This is a positive post about a Sabres player. What are you doing? Do you want to get poop on? None of this here, we can't have nice things. And who cares about points when you make mistakes? Unless it's about Laine. Then it's only about the points. Until he plays for the Sabres. Get my point. NO NICE THINGS EVER. Got it? Ok, good, Ullmark sucks.

Interesting read from Todd C covering the Devils. He seems to think Special Teams do matter. Someone better put that mofo in place.

They're a better team than their record shows. Barkov is one of the best players in the league. There's a few reasons.

Numero Uno is that we've sucked though.

Not sure who exactly has been in goal for them for the most part over that stretch, but I'd also venture a guess that part of it had to do with the fact that for some reason Luongo had our number. We struggled playing against him his entire career. Every goalie has one or two teams that they just shine against, and Buffalo was for sure one of Luongo's. Even though he was like 300 years old last year.

Because the Panthers were better than Buffalo.
They're going to be in each other's way over the next several years.
