why did they spell nylander wrong?
- SabresFaninIndiana

The Toews - Kane - Nylander line didn't even know how to spell defense, let alone try playing it.

We don't know that. We don't know that he had an offer for a guy like that and turned it down. Everything is just speculation.

Per Dreger: If Botterill is trading Ristolainen, he's getting a boatload in return. It's still too early in the season for any team to pay that.

Per John Wawrow, who covers Buffalo sports for the AP: Well, there was a boatload of a deal discussed a little over a month ago before it didn't happen.

Hmmm...

Nothing here. Wawrow is just a cynical poop. There were plenty of rumors, turned out to be squat.

Reinhart(7) Eichel(10) Olofsson(4.5)

Montour(5.5) Dahlin(.925)
Ristolainen(5.4) McCabe(2.85)
Miller(3.88) Jokiharju(.925)
Pilut/Gilmour/???(1.5)

Hutton(2.75)
Ullmark(2)

Projected Salary Cap: 84 M
Projected Salary: 79.075 M

I really don’t see a lot of room to play with next year. With reasonable raises for Montour, Reinhart and Olofsson, modest raises for Ullmark, Girgs, Larsson, Mittelstadt, Thompson and a seventh D, and a reasonable salary for the third line winger(whether Sheary, Vesey or someone else) there really isn’t much room.

You can argue 250k on a few salaries, but this is very reasonable imo. Considering that Dahlin will demand a huge pay raise the following year, I just don’t see where all the flexibility/room to play is.

I said it before, but we are sort of in cap jail until Okposo’s contract falls off the books in another 4 years.

You can trade Ristolainen for a forward who earns less, but that savings still doesn’t cover the 9 million or more pay raise that Dahlin will command. Especially when we currently only project to have 5 M in space.

Fair look at things. There isn't as much room as people think, and it's really a 1 year bubble until things get much tighter. I'd argue a few salaries (Olofsson and Mitts especially). Add Cozens in your 3m spot and you'll save a few more million. A move (or more) on D is inevitable.

Again, speculation....

Or did you miss that part?

also, would you trade him unless you were getting quite the return? Because I'm not. While I see deficiencies in his game, he's still worth a decent enough package that it doesn't make sense to just ship him out for the first thing offered.

Thank you "insider", what else ya got?
- GilPerreault11

It was from Elliott Freedman's mouth...he's the insider.
He did go on to mention only Winnipeg and Anaheim when asked who would be looking for a RhD like Risto .... he had plenty of time to go on and mention 30 teams, but stopped at those two and only those two.
But, he's a media guy so obviously he is a stupid putz.
