I think everyone is happy. Discussions would be a bit boring if all we did was say Dahlin is good, Eichel is good.
If they were bad the discussion would be about who to fire. Discussing roster minutia is a sign that people are plugged in and thinking ahead. - matty12345
Dahlin is very skilled and talented. He has NOT been good so far this year, in fact, off the power-play he has been borderline awful. |

I've read that Olofsson has been pretty invisible apart from the PP as well. |

He has been invisible, not terrible. Dahlin has been a nightmare. Lazy with the puck, taking horrible penalties, aloof attitude. Aside from that goal he scored, he's made very, very bad plays.
His positioning has been good. He just needs to play with more sense of urgency.
Olofsson should be scoring 15-20 goals on the power-play alone for the next few years, but he needs someone to find him some space and I think that guy is Mojo. Skinner works with Eichel and Reinhart, but Reinhart is basically a skilled grinder and Skinner is a lot more than just a sniper. Eichel isn't just a playmaker, either.
Olofsson right now is nothing more than a 1-dimensional sniper. Mojo is a fantastic playmaker. Find literally anyone to replace Sobotka on that wing, except Thompson . |

I think we need to give these lines time. The only excuse I can think of having Sobotka on line 2 is because the 4th line has been playing very well and the third line is having enough trouble as it is. Sobotka can take draws and Mojo and Skinner are creating on their own. It will be nice when the Olofsson-Eichel-Reinhart line can get going 5v5.
It's only been 4 games so no need to overreact over anything.

Not impressed with Dahlin. He certainly doesn’t look like a “generational talent”.
One silver lining of his struggles so far is that he might not command a crazy contract when his entry level deal expires. |

Man, this is a tough town.
Dahlin is on pace for 20G, 123A, +41. He has been on the ice for 6 even strength goals and only on the ice for one against.
But you know, he's a bust because he turned the puck over a few times. |

I am not very good at math but i think we have 7 out of 8 points and not 1 out of 8 points. And I feel for all my brothers and sisters in the Buffalo area right now. Apparently the sky is falling. What's that look like?

He has 7 points in 4 games. His goal was a thing of beauty. He's going to have growing pains - sophomore slump.
He's been (frank)ing terrible at even strength and defensively but he's 19 years old and already the best defenseman on our team.
He needs a lot of work but pump those brakes, dude.
I hate the term "generational" as much as I hate the term "artist" or "genius". they're thrown around too much.
There's literally only like 12 savants in the world, and there's a reason for that. It's an incredibly unique trait to have.
Sidney Crosby was generational when he was drafted. So was McDavid, almost 10 years later (marking the gap between generations).
If any defenseman in the last 15 years is generational, it's Dahlin.
But much like how "everyone in Buffalo is an artist, man!", if that's true, then NO ONE is an artist, because being an artist becomes normal, generic and not unique, therefor, mediocre. Something else must rise up from the ashes of generics.
If everyone is beautiful, no one is beautiful, because being beautiful means precisely that you're more attractive than "normal". If everyone is beautiful, then everyone is normal. |

Something with Sobotka has got to give at some point.
Everything else has gone well for the Sabres. Including Risto - Sabretooth9
You love critiquing/criticizing everyone on the team. Yesterday it was. Dahlin who is a point behind the NHL points lead as a 19 year old dman. The Sabres have 7 out of 8 points, are averaging 4.5 goals a game and sobotka’s linemates have 4 or 5 goals already, so what exactly has to give? Your critiquing does |

Second in the NHL in scoring, highest scoring defenseman in the league, on the highest scoring team in the league...he's terrible. This place is unreal |

People love to hate on stats, but you know what's worse? The eye test. Because according to some people, Dahlin looks bad. Except see no.
On ice for Goals against at even strength:
Risto-5
McCabe-4
Scandella-2
Joker-2
Miller-1
Dahlin-1
On ice for Goals scored at even strength:
Miller-7
Dahlin-6
Risto-6
McCabe-4
Scandella-3
Joker-1
Who are our best defensive defensemen 5v5? Miller and Dahlin.
Who are our best offensive defensemen 5v5? Miller and Dahlin
Who is the defenseman killing it on our pp? Dahlin.
Where exactly has he been 'terrible'. |

Our experts analysis is what has been terrible. I’m going to do something controversial and say some positive things
Captain jack is becoming a superstar before our very eyes. He absolutely took over last game
Dahlin has 7 points in 4 games - come on!! That’s crazy from anybody Much less a 19 year old dman. On for one even strength goal against
Mojo is more than we could have hoped for on and off the ice. No browner have in signing a talented 29 year old Swede to mentor the 457 Swedes on our team. Stay healthy Mojo. 2c problem solved.
Miller has been crazy good and we got him for pennies on the dollar
Okposo has been played well, perhaps back to his pre concussion level??
Skinner has been great WITHOUT jack.
Goaltending has been good but can be better and the goaltender of future is still in rehab
Montour and bogo (who actually played really well last year when healthy) will eventually be back
Cousins WILL be great although next year
It’s interesting how a team responds to a coach who’s not a dbag (Bislama) over his head (Housley)
That’s all I got |

Hard calling him the best defensive dman when he's starting nearly 80% of the time in the Ozone and doesn't kill penalties at all.
Also, taking too many penalties leading to goals and while killing it on the PP, he gave the other team a shorty.
The eye test shows he is not good defensively. Probably the least defensive dman on the team so far this season.
Take your blinders off. |
