From your mouth to God's (PoMo's) ears!! 🙏...... - liverpoolnhl
An educated guess would have Gustafsson replacing Letestu ( or maybe Bourque or Appleton ) against the Pens tomorrow night because of the back-back games. It's always better to make it a home town debut rather than on the road. Last change and the hometown crowd can make a difference for a rookie's first game. There is also that solo skate thing in the warmup . Looking at the schedule this makes perfect sense. As the 13th forward you can bet when it happens he will do his best to put a maximum effort in. |

Oh well, getting another strong effort from Laine, was maybe too much to expect. Big win, nevertheless !! |

I agree, that was the effort that got Laine demoted to the second line. Ehlers was outstanding, and the line was the Jets best.
Roslovic,Perrault and Appleton were very good.
Dahlsrom looked good, Pionk was excellent, Poolman and Bitetto looked replaceable but were okay.
Hellebuyck earned full marks.
2nd Pp unit was as good or better than the first. |

Jets eke out a win. I wish we could get our PP working though. Most of the team played pretty well IMHO. I don't like the constant mistakes from Kulikov.... and Letestu is a liability every time he set foot on the ice. I'll go out on a limb and make a strong plea to Maurice to please pull Letestu tomorrow night and insert Gustafsson.

Well I hope he does because once Little comes back , Gustafsson might as well buy his plane ticket back to Sweden.

Dear Patrik, I have been very hard on you for the past 12 or so months. In all honesty I had serious doubts that you would figure it all out. If your game tonight is indicative of what we can expect moving forward, then I will be more than happy to eat my words.
Keep it up ! - bennythehat
2 games in a row of invisible Laine. I guess I spoke too soon.

It’s not just the young players on defense but the Jets lack of a decent defensive system, for yet another season, will come back to haunt the Jets. Helly has to play unbelievable everynight in order for the Jets to have a chance to win as giving up 35 + shots nightly doesn’t bode well for success. Unless Maurice and Huddy miraculously develop a zone defense sometime this year that doesn’t allow their opponents so much time in the Jets end and giving up so many shots, dangerous shots, the Jets will be in trouble. Niku has to play as sitting in the pressbox behind pylons like Bitetto, Dahlstrom and Kulikov will lead to him wanting a trade. It also sends a horrible message to signing Samberg that he sees he won't get a fair chance to play on the Jets as long as Maurice plays 7/8 waiver claims ahead of him. Great to win though. - islansjet
Yep. Jets are a disaster from top to bottom. A few early season wins is just masking it.
Hopefully chevy makes a fruitless trade out of over confidence.

Anyone else think wheeler is more of concern than others? He looks slow and tired and is turning over the puck on the pp at a higher rate than last year!!
I wish we had a coach wise enough to realize wheeler is in the same boat as Laine, connor and Ehlers in that he to would not shine away from 55
Time for wheeler on another line and demoted to pp#2 |

That's why we need another Center.
For Pete's sake Maurice tried to get Lowry going by throwing him up there with Scheifele. For all we know, next game Broissant will be playing with Scheifle with the hopes that he too will get going. Chevy do yourself a favor pay the price and get another legit top line Center! |

Actually he was trying to get Laine skating again... a bit of a wake up call |

Much easier to get a new coach who doesn’t bow down to wheeler

Lowry’s line has not been on the ice for an even goal against
I don’t like that line but they have not been scored on at even strength, to me that’s alright for a 4th line but Lowry is being wasted on a fourth line
Scoring goals is not our issue, preventing them is!!!! Maurice needs to change his horrible D systems and we need another top 4 D and stop playing Bietto and dahlstrom |

Not sure what we see in Bitetto? Shows our desperation on back end, I guess. Dahlstrom ? I think Roslovic has earned promotion. Why not go with:
Ehlers-Scheif-Wheel
Connor-Roslovic-Laine
Copp-Lowry-Perreault
Luoto-Seuss-Appleton
Bourque
Morrissey-Pool
Heinola-Pionk
Dahlstrom-Kulikov
If they figure 2nd line too weak defensively, slide Roslovic to 3rd line C, and move Copp to 2nd and Lowry to 3rd line LW? Would work for me!
But 3rd pairing D??? Need an upgrade badly at D, as you say. |

Lowry's line hasn't been on the ice period. Lowry is essentially useless without Cop, Tanev and Armia.
Scoring goals is an issue. Please look at all the goals scored so far this season and tell me for how many Scheifele was not on the ice for. We have a bunch of high paid wingers who can't score unless Scheifele is on the ice. That is a fact! |

Lowry was never the driver of those lines. It was Tanev on the T-L-C line and Armia before that. Lowry looks lost out there without his old linemates.
Little has the tinted visor in the morning skate. It therefore appears that he still has a way to go from recovering from the concussion from that pointless pre-season hit. |

the only goal he was on the ice for against Chicago was his OT winner, that's off the top of my head |

sorry guys this is just not true!! Tanev and Armia lost shot share significantly away from lowry, like really bad |

Looks like the only forward change is Gustafsson in for Letestu, and a few line changes on the bottom six. Oh well, a step in the right direction.
Thinking Heinola is bound for Finland.
You'd better believe that Lowry/Jets miss Tanev. He was the straw that stirred the drink. Unfortunately the Pens saw that too, and there was no way that the Jets could match the contract, so we have to move on - and hope that a young Tanev shows up - Luoto?

I liked Luoto. Looks like Maurice read this thread one game late and finally answered JetsNation's request re: putting Gustafsson in and Letestu out......or at least I'd like to think so. |

Yeah being benched for 3 games indicates he's gone. They are probably just waiting on Little to come back so they can get a 2 for 1 deal on tickets to Europe for Heinola and Gustafsson.

If a center is more important than our team D why didn’t we win a Stanly Cup when we traded for legit 2nd line centers for 2 playoff runs???? Could it be that wasn’t enough or possibly not the piece we actually needed?????
I don’t expect you to reconsider your position but it should |

Not every team wins a Stanley Cup. There are 31 teams in the NHL. What having Center depth does is, increase your chances at winning one. Washington won the cup the first year we traded for Stastny and they had Kuznetsov and Backstrom as their 1-2 punch at center. They also had Lars Eller as their #3 option, which is not bad.
St. Louis had O'Reilly and Schenn last year with Bozak as a #3 option which is not bad either. We have #1 and #3 locked down. #2 not so much! |
