The reason I'd like to see someone else partnered with Jokiharju is his effect in helping magically turn Scandella back into a serviceable defenseman. Watching the games, it seems like Scandella is letting Jokiharju handle all the breakouts and zone exits. Curious how a Montour, Pilut, or Gilmour would maybe open up the game even more for Jokiharju. - kingcong39
I completely agree. Scandella has looked good this season, could be his partner joker helping.
Even if scandella is a mirage, hopefully it makes him appear tradeable, if necessary |

I would put Jokiharju right with Dahlin now and not look back.

I really don't know why people are in a rush to bring up Pilut, even when he gets healthy enough to play he will need time in Roch., just to get back into the speed of the game, he hasn't played Hockey in 6 months |

Why do the sabres always play in the afternoon on Columbus day. Some of us have to work damn it. And the games are worth watching these days. |

Yes, he's a bit older. But defenseman take longer to develop.
Why not let him play his way into a spot? If he is "dominating " again this year, let him beat out scandella.
Who is playing well in my opinion - Boss34
I don't think we need to get him up here before he is ready. I think the conversation started around the comment that the plan is for him to stay down there all year. |

Nobody is looking to rush him. I think the point is that when he is ready he should be in over Scandella (and trade Risto) |

Scandella has been decent this year, and Risto is playing good to, he doesn't do it all the time, but he is the only Physical presence we have back there, for all the crap he takes that means something, players have to be aware. |

That's my point and why I said it looks like they are going to keep him in the AHL all year absent injuries on the Sabres as they don't seem to be trading Ristolainen anytime soon and Scandella being sat is something I'm not sure they do. |

This is all pretty simple.
1. At some point multiple people have to go as we have too many D
2. Scandella and Bogo won't be here next year
3. WHEN we have healthy people that will be here next year at no point should Scandella play over any of them. We aren't cup contenders this year so we should be aiming to get them playing time.

Sabres are playing decent right know, fun to watch, been a while since I actually sat and watched a whole game, Goalofson really needs to work on his 5v5 game, he is non-existent. Hate to rush a player, but really would have liked to see what Cozens could do for at least 9 games, might have balanced out the lines a little more. |

I said that with cozens all preseason. Give him a look The 9 games can’t hurt.
Cozens instead of Sobotka would be nice on the 2nd line. |

Botts might be smarter then some of the posters here.
Had to save money to over pay skinner by $250,000 - Boss34
The term is the issue. Money would have been fine if it was a 4-5 year term at $9M. But people here are shortsighted and only care about the present but forget the fact the Sabres have to field a team 4 years from now. |

Gilmour goes down and pilut is already down.
The Sabres 7 d are
Risto
Dahlin
McCabe
Joker
Scandella
Montour
Miller
Bogo long term shelf.

This.
It just makes too much sense.
They have too many D.
They have too little forwards worth anything.
Time to make a move is in the very near future |

You have no idea what the landscape of the NHL will look like in 4 years. How will the new TV deal affect the cap? What changes will the new CBA bring?
You cant operate a team from a place of fear. |

I hate afternoon games. Hockey was meant for evenings. Also, i'd love to know what our overall record for afternoon games is - I'm guessing it's sh!tty. Seems like we always lose afternoon games. |

Nobody knows if we are contenders or not, people keep saying that, we are 5 games into the season, there is some good talent on this team, they have showed glimpses of how good they could be, yes they have some work to do, few pieces need to be added, let's see what Botts and Krueger can do. Having fun being a Buffalo sports fan again, been awhile |

If/when you have kids you'll be ok with a few games being in the afternoon. It's the only way pre-teens can see a whole game. |

Be nice if Sobotka had a little scoring touch to go with the physical part, be perfect for that line |

Actually, after JBotts blew a gasket after losing a kids game haven't they been pretty good in those games? |

I feel like Krueger thinks he can be the Zach Hyman of that line. However Hyman actually has a tad bit of offensive ability. |
